Packer487 3 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 Even with Brohm on the roster, Rodgers is still better off than he was last year at this time right? Instead of being the talented backup and having the iron man, Favre, in front of him, he's now the starting QB with a talented backup behind him. I doubt he thinks it's personal. The Packers clearly needed a backup QB and actually, having a 2nd round draft pick rookie behind him is probably less threatening than if they were to go grab a former starter to back him up. Rodgers has 3 years in the system, learning from the master. This is his team as long as he performs. And if he doesn't, he'd get replaced sooner or later anyway. At least this way, we've got a very talented Plan B who could be trade bait in a couple years if he proves to be a good player as well. Honestly, there's a part of me that wants to see Brohm end up as the starter. I LOVE this kid and it's fun to have a Louisville QB that I've been watching for a few years. But I do think Rodgers is going to be a very solid QB in the NFL.
Packer487 3 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 Of course its an indictment on Rodgers. You give him the keys to the car but put another driver just in the car in case. This was much more than just a QB to fill roster space. If that was the case, the Packers should have went after JT O'Sullivan. Maybe going after JT O'Sullivan wouldn't have been such a bad thing: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/05/05/...aise-osullivan/ I'd like to take this opportunity to point out, once again, how happy I am that the 49ers passed on Aaron Rodgers to take Alex Smith. Packer487 3 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 All I read is Brohm/Rogers. When is Matt Flynn going to get some loving! (: They were pretty impressed with him at the rookie camp. It sounded like they had more of a 5th round grade on him. Englemon from Michigan had a pick in the rookie camp. I don't know if they were going to offer him a tryout for training camp, but it wouldn't shock me, especially if they up the roster limit. They didn't draft a safety, so they could probably use one in camp at least. I always liked that kid. He came into my work one time and I was wearing a Louisville Cardinals shirt, and I mentioned I was from there (he's from KY too) and so we were talking about Kentucky. Nice kid. I didn't know he signed with GB. I wish him the best. He has a very solid year last season, along with Adams. By the way anyone see this young GB fan? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_...-?urn=nfl,80972
