No. Z has developed over the past years to fit right into the Detroit organization, especially after Yzerman's retirement, I want Z to be the man to fill Yzerman's very large shoes and lead this team to many championships (hopefully). Trading Lids is nuts, espescially if it weren't for Pronger or Nieds... they only two defense men who are his caliber skill wise (I still dont know why the other two play dirty when they have the skill). Ovie is good, and so is Green, they stepped up and made a lot of things possible this year for the Caps when people had written them off. Bottom line, no trade, it doesnt make sense.

I can see Valteri Filppula being Capt'n in 5 years.

Um....

Why?

Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk are next in line of players expected to be around that long.

Kris Draper and Nicklas Lidstrom COULD be around until then. Not to mention other players who could be in the systm at that point. Flip ending up as captain is pretty unlikely at this point.

z isn't a top 5 player in the league. ovechkin is an actual god and lidstrom will retire soon so its basically z for green and ovechkin. sick....

You are high. Put the marijuana down and slowly back away...

not a chance. lindstrom plays such a smart game of hockey. i don't see him getting involved physically like kronwall does. lindstrom is hopefully going to be in detroit for a few more years.

the detroit red wings are a team with pride. I don't see them throwing away their captain and team-mate and #1 defensive player (year after year mind you) for some hot-shot goal scorer. Our offensive production is great. Sasha and Pasha? Franzen being the next Thomas Holmstrom?

Forget it. Wings don't need to and will not trade their already tested and proven two-way players for this young-gun.

Ovechkin is fun to watch i'll give you that. but wasn't dats the best +/- player in the NHL this year? and Lindstrom close behind or even ahead?

L-I-D-S-T-R-O-M.

Now, go buy a chalkboard and write LIDSTROM on it 100 times to atone for your sin.

done. :) plus. i think lidstrom's style of play clearly shows he'll be around for awhile. he averages more ice time than everyone on the team and he makes plays without having to exert alot of physical force.

however on the flip side - i could see alot of the wings older players calling it quits if we win the cup this year. i would hate to see it happen, but you never know.
