McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Has anybody heard anything about when he will be able to dump the chin guard? Just curious. My guess is that he will wear it for the rest of the season including playoffs. He can't take another blow to the jaw anytime soon.

PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Doesn't he still have a few screws and plates in his jaw as well? I thought I heard that somewhere, sorry no link. That would be fun in airport security.

amberlynn25 9 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 id wear it as long as possible...look at Rip Hamilton, he didnt need the face guard, but still wore it.
Redwingsfan18 1 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 I'm sure he doesn't like it but will wear it regardless. Once you hurt a part of your face severely (nose, jaw, etc) it always stays a little tender. I'm sure come next season, being the warrior that he is, he'll take it off. But for now, even if he could take it off, he'd leave it on just in case someone pops him in front of the net or Sammy decides he's going to shoot the puck 5 feet off the ice towards the net again.. BeatDown20 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 4 months. So he'll probably be ready for next season. Sweet, not like it's taken anything away from his game.
miller76 463 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 He said in an interview when they were in St.Louis the other night, that the screws would be in there for at least the duration of his hockey career. Whether he was joking about that or not, screws in my jaw or anywhere in my body doesn't sound very pleasant.
