Anaheim Ducks forward Todd Bertuzzi has filed a lawsuit against former coach Marc Crawford, according to an online report. The CBC is reporting that according to court documents they obtained, Bertuzzi alleges Crawford's negligence contributed to the actions taken in March of 2004 when Bertuzzi attacked Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche from behind during a game.

Ah, it just gets better and better, doesn't it?

Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

I hope Crawford countersues for defamation of character and takes Bertuzzi to the cleaners. And I don't even like Crawford. Shows what I think of this.

After last year I was hoping we would sign Bertuzzi, now I'm really glad Anahiem outbid us. I wouldn't want to have this type of distraction with the playoffs only a few weeks away.

It's better Anaheim has to deal with it.

That's what happens to you when you join the Ducks, I guess.

He's just trying to get out of paying his salary to Moore and making Crawford pay it instead. What Bertuzzi doesn't seem to realize is that Burke only has clout in the NHL, not in the judicial system.

Oh man, this has nothing to do with the discussion, but I noticed Mack_Attack, along with being a Leafs fan, is a Blue Jays fan too.

Poor guy. biggrin.gif

Has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Any respect Bert may have gotten back from fans has been thrown to the wayside. What a ******

Congrats Bertuzzi....way to pass the buck for your own stupidity and negligence. thumbdown.gif
It's amazing how much clarity comes when you care more about the Red Wings than any individual player.

"They are the best team in the world. They are a team that can just take over when they want to," Chicago's Patrick Kane said (of the Detroit Red Wings).

I wanted Bertuzzi back but the Wings got lucky not re-signing him. He'll never be the same player again especially with all these distractions.
In a 2005 study published by the journal Nature, researchers at Durham University in England concluded that, across a range of sports, we found that wearing red is consistently associated with a higher probability of winning. The researchers also suggested that red's effect may subconsciously intimidate opponents in athletic contests, especially when the athletes are equal in skill and strength.

I dunno... people are all happy passing the buck of Roy's sons actions onto Roy himself (being only the coach and all and saying he deserved to be suspended for his players action) now i think the next case should be Roy vs. Roy

I think its all silly right down to the original bannig from the NHL ... always have always will.

Exactly as above. This is a perfect case of someone not taking responsibility for their own actions. Bertuzzi is that guy who you invited over for a house party, had a few too many, despite your concerns he drove home anyway, was in an accident, and is sueing you for overserving him.
I know the swearing thing was talked about a few weeks back, but what the f***!? People everywhere sue for the stupidest stuff these days. Regardless of what his coach told him, Bert made the decision, he took the action, he should have to pay the consequences.
