I completely fell for that. Hahahahaha. That was actually a really, really good one. In fact.. I'm going to use it right now with some friends.

God, I got such a shiver up my spine from seeing that picture.

EDIT: Yes. You have waaaaaay too much time on your hands. And I like the save as 'itsnotreal.'

Is it true that when this site first game out, on April 1st, Matt changed this to a "letsgoavs" site? I remember reading that sometime. I wish I could have seen it

I think that was in 2002 when Matt did that on April Fools Day. I remember that the message board/server puked during the Cup finals and everybody had to register to the site again so that's why the earliest members on here are from June 2002 even though some of us (including me) have been members here for quite longer.

i did just now :) just some lady singing O.o

The first documented instance of a telephone rickroll? :sneaky:

I think it takes the prank to a whole new level. (And I'm so glad I can hang up quickly)

Matt you owe me 1 cell phone minute!

Wouldn't be too bad!?!? Dude don't compare the historic NHL with soccer. It's not like those soccer unis are from the early 1900s. My grandpa would roll in his grave if he ever saw the historic Red Wings jersey looking like a nascar. So yes, it would be VERY bad. Which is why the NHL will never let that happen. The history and tradition of the NHL is so unique. Advertisements plastered all over would be atrocious.

my "soccer" team which btw has a sponsor on their shirt and has for over 25 years now, is about 50 years older than the Red Wings...

and they've been wearing the same uniform since 1882

Exactly. They've already been doing it for many years. So it's a lot different. Not to mention, how can you even compare YOUR soccer team to the NHL's Detroit Red Wings professional hockey team??? Dude that's not even close to the same. Millions more would be affected by the Red Wings doing that. Where as no one would care about your soccer team.

seriously?

Oh no I'm sure his little podunk soccer team has many more fans than the highest level of pro hockey there is. And an original 6 no less. Yeah it's very comparable.

this is an unbelievable outrage. Congratulations Mr. Bettman, you have successfully turned our beloved sport into a minor-league disgrace.

Until he is gone, our sport will continue to be destroyed.

I found this page the other day, I've ordered mine, I wish everyone in every arena would wear these for the first round of the playoffs...

Stop Bettman T-Shirts

This seriously ruined my freaking day.

You could not possibly sound any dumber given that his "little podunk soccer team" probably plays in the English Premiership. Just to make you sound as dumb as possible, I hope his favorite is Manchester United, which has a followership of about 330 million.

Well now you sound really dumb. Considering he NEVER made it sound like anything other then a soccer team that he plays for. And I assume we don't have any pro soccer players on the board. So I figured it wasn't a pro team. Cause OBVIOUSLY if I had known it was a pro soccer team I would know PRO soccer fans outnumber all of our 4 major sports combined. Hense the word podunk. I figured It was a low level soccer team. Nice try though smart guy.

If this is an April Fools joke, I'll be extremely happy. My problem is when I was listening to Bettman speak on XM NHL Radio 6 weeks ago about putting ads on goalies jerseys (down their sleeves). That was indeed no joke. Bettman is capable of it, if it really is a joke, it's not too far off.

It wouldn't be too bad, I mean soccer has advertisements on their uniforms.

That's why soccer uniforms look so terrible, to say nothing of european hockey. If your team colours/logo aren't sacred enough to be exempt from corporate whoring, what the hell is the point anymore?

I'm pretty worn out mentally from work and moving stuff into my new home these past few days but this didn't get past me thankfully.

You gotta go all out though instead of the Little Ceaser's promotion. GM, Ford, Tide Dishwashing detergent, Wal-Mart, et al. Decorate the whole uniform.

I wasn't around for LetsGoAvs on April Fools a few years ago but heard the uproar was downright hilarious.

The prank a few years ago suggesting a jersey change was just downright hilarious, getting a small bunch of us to agree with ideas completely out of left field and others wandering what the hell has happened to us where we would think these things. That was awesome.
