ESPN Ranks all the Playoff Goalies

ESPN ranked all of the playoff goalies and in my opinion didn't do half bad (although I do think that they had Kipper and Turco too low - yes, even with Turco's shaky playoff stats, which were much better last year). They put the Hasek/Osgood combo as the third best! Here is the quote concerning them -

"No team has a one-two punch in net like the Detroit Red Wings. With more than 100 playoff wins combined and each having previously led Detroit to Stanley Cups, Dominik Hasek and Chris Osgood's experience is a big plus. The 43-year-old Hasek has looked shaky at times this season, but still ranks within the top five in league GAA. The two-time MVP is the Wings' No. 1 goalie to start the postseason, but if he stumbles, Osgood is a more-than-capable replacement. The 35-year-old Osgood led the league in GAA and was the NHL's best to start the season. No team allowed fewer goals than the Wings this season, and goaltending is a big reason why."

I think Dom and Ozzie are way to high on that list. I would definitely take Lundqvist and Nabokov over them..

that's definitely my call, too. I'd also say Kipper and Price are a bit low

while Fleury is a bit too high.

seems like an inconsistent ranking. on the one side Brodeur seems to

be rated high because of his playoff performances. similar story with

Marty Turco, though, in this case it's low rank because of playoffs.

then Fleury who's been a playoff non-show is high because he run hot

at the end of the season.

I don't think Dom&Oz tandem is that bad as some ppl predict but I'd

still not put them that high on the list. #8 or lower would be a right

spot.

Exactly.. lets not forget how much faith most ppl have put in ESPN's hockey knowledge in the past. Plus, GAA is not as relevant as save % for a team that has arguably the best D in the league. I think most ppl acknowledge the fact that goal could be detroit's biggest challange this playoff and ranking them as 3rd in this category is likely overstated!!!

I figured Nabokov would be there around the top. I do believe Lundqvist and Price are where they should be. I thought Tomas would get a little more love. But I would say our guys are right around where they should be. Of course Giguerre is going to get all the love, the media kisses his ass all the time.
