WQF Game 4 GDT: Predators 3, Red Wings 2

agreed. They had better work on scoring more than 2 goals per game. I figured out a while back that 1 or 2 won't cut it, but they seem to have an aversion to scoring more than that. Very disturbing...

Has your ignore list gotten too full to keep me on it anymore, puckloo?

:D

In hockey things don't usually carry over from game to game.

In 2006 we beat Edmonton in game 4 when it looked like we won the series, and then we laid in egg in game 5 at home.

Besides, we played better in the 3rd, that doesn't mean we played well. The last 6 or 7 minutes we didn't have any good chances and turned the puck over at the opposing team's blue line. That's hardly a glaring positive like everyone is making it sound.

The Wings are going to have to make their own positives. There's none to be gotten from this game.

Uhh...Osgood? He was the best goaltender in the game tonight.

Game 5, that was when we were down 3-0 in the 2nd when Shanny scored on a breakaway and thats as close as we came correct? Sad day that was :(.

Good Game. Wings will get them next time.

I'd rather our team face adversity now than in round 3.

Taken some good shots? Hes been subpar defensively, but he still picks his spots better offensively. Plus for some reason Samuelsson has it in his head that he has a good, accurate shot. Id rather see Stuart setting up other folks than anything else..Not to mention, simply being a replacement for Samuelsson is a good enough reason to start the 2nd unit PP.

Yeah don't get me wrong I'd take Stuart over Sammy on the point any day it's just that neither have played well at all. I'd almost be willing to try Lebda out if he's dressed. Just for something different because what we have now is not working.

We have to get past this round first, dude.

What, you think if we get to round 3 it'll be easier? We can't even beat a bunch of untalented hacks like Nashville. Their only offensive strategy involves taking wristshots from the point hoping to get deflections. Their talent level is inferior to other teams in the West.

Oy vey...

Heya Matt. I don't envy your position tonight, that's for sure. This place is a powder keg.

I'd gather you're probably just as disgusted with the team as we are right now, though.

Since everyone else gets to blame their favorite whipping boy, I guess it's only fair that I get to point out that it sure is a good thing that we didn't acquire Fedorov or Prospal for basically nothing at the trade deadline....

 This team drives me crazy! It's like a fricking roller coaster all the time. Errrrr.

And, um, I like Babs but his attitude is so annoying sometimes! It's almost like he just doesn't care and blows it off when they play sucky. I dono, I certainly hope he's just like that with the media and he acts differently with his players...but I dono...

Speaking of whipping boys, I hope Lilja will be back now, because Lebda looked useless out there. His speed was good for nothing.

Prospal I'd take in a heartbeat, Fedorov no, he's too slow to have an offensive impact anymore.

Hasieve? HASIEVE?? I'm glad you're staying positive.

In a few weeks, I'm sure we'll hear Babcock saying, "Well, we're out of the playoffs, but all of those chances we generated really gives me confidence for next year.

I am staying positive. I'm just more positive with Ozzie in goal. The saves he made tonight, Hasek would'nt have come close to making, as far as his play so far would indicate. The differences between how the two played were glaringly obvious. It's funny how the team seemed to get that little(understatement) jump in their step once Ozzie was in there and showed them he had their backs.

Im right with you. It would be just like hockey to see Dom sit his butt down on the bench and see the rarely talked about team-guy take his team to the cup. Ive had a feeling since Babs said Dom was gonna start that wed be regretting that decision. And Babs should be blaming himself. To start Hasek when he really never looked like his old self all season long was a terrible, terrible coaching move.

Yea, but he thought that's what's was best for the team. I still think Hasek will be starting next game, even though he shouldn't, and I hope he turns it around.

Need I remind you THIS team was the top team in the regular season. We can beat any team in the league if we play a full 60 minutes. To bring up the deadline is such a cop out. Any coward can make up a million excuses. Thats what separates winners from losers.

Ay yi yi.. where to start?

Wings weren't sharp tonight till the middle of the 2nd period. The Preds were taking it to them all night and pressuring the hell outta them. We need to CLEAR the puck out of our zone and not keep it in there for minutes at a time.

The PP has been really bad and needs some work big time. They have to get it sorted out and soon.

Ozzie needs to start Game 5. I gave Dom a chance. I really did, and I am not trying to be mean but you cannot give up 2 goals at a time seconds apart and you cannot give up a goal the second we get back in the game. That was an awful 3rd goal he gave up. Ozzie needs to start and if he doesn't then i'm calling BS and wouldn't know what to think of it. He was SO composed out there and was extremely sharp and quick. We need that. The Wings were really feeding off of him. Keep him in net. It's not a bash on Hasek, it's just what NEEDS to be done if they want to get things rolling again.

Don't worry ladies and gents, we will win this series. Just gotta make a few adjustments.

Bruce MacLeod:

Who will start in goal for the Red Wings in Friday's Game 5? Mike Babcock said after tonight's game that he has "a pretty good idea", but he's not saying. Babcock said that he wants to think about it for a while longer before saying whether Chris Osgood or Dominik Hasek will be in net.

Yes, because goals from the blue line that are not tipped that go through the five hole that cost them the game that are scored on ''the dominator'' 11 seconds after they pull it to within one is acceptable.

*Hasek played poorly - just shoot it at him, it will go in

*There is no place/spot on this team for Sammy

*Flip,Cleary, and Franz have not been playing well

*Defense not shooting the puck - it works for them

*At times, getting in too deep to the net and having the rebound go by

*Not responding to adversity

I can't believe some of us, myself included, were concerned with Stuart wanting to live in California after this season.

I say good riddance. This guy is about as useful as having a pair of brass knuckles when you're being attacked by a polar bear.

He sucks.

I swear to god, Mike Ilitch needs to drop Babcock if Dom starts in Game 5. I love Dom, I really do, but his time has passed, Ozzie is gonna take over and you cant argue with how well he played this year. In the all star game, best GAA in the season, 27 wins.

I agree though, Stuart isnt looking too good. It's those goddamn CCM helmets, they are the ugliest things I've ever seen. Mac needs to go find his old Nike Bauer 97 helmet and put that on, Stuart, just go back to RBK.

Prospal I'd take in a heartbeat, Fedorov no, he's too slow to have an offensive impact anymore.

He did have 13 points in 18 games after he got traded to Washington. He hasn't done much in the playoffs, but he definitely could've helped our second power play unit. And the Caps gave up nothing to get him.

I still think it was basically criminal to not acquire a forward at the deadline.

Need I remind you THIS team was the top team in the regular season. We can beat any team in the league if we play a full 60 minutes. To bring up the deadline is such a cop out. Any coward can make up a million excuses. Thats what separates winners from losers.

I'm just saying, if everyone gets to blame Hasek, it's only fair that I get to blame Holland, since our second PP unit clearly sucks, and yet again we're having issues putting the puck in the net. Hopefully things change. It'd be nice for guys like Z and Flip to wake up at some point.

Seriously, do not be surprised if Dom is back in the net. SERIOUSLY.
