Closing Out a Series

Rate this topic

Does anyone know offhand what the Wings streak is currently after today's win as far as closing out a series.

From what I can remember, the last time we lost a game with a chance to eliminate someone was in 1998 against Dallas, when Langenbrunner scored on Ozzie. I just don't remember what the exact number is.

I guess we only need 3 wins to win a series, while everyone else needs 4. :sly:

I just counted on my own, and it came out to 12 straight. We lost to Dallas in game 5, but we came back and elminated them in game 6, which is when the streak started. I might be wrong, though.

Where's Eva when I need him? :D

I'm not sure that game 6 counts. It was our second crack at it. We've finished 11 series on the first opportunity.

Either way you look at it, that's very impressive, because in sports the saying is that the hardest one to win is the last one. I guess the hardest for the Wings to win always seems to be the 3rd one. :D

I think the streak would be for closing out series' with the first opportunity. So it's eleven.

Regardless, as you said 11-0 over ten years for series winning games is an outstanding record.
