edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised to see Forsberg in. Smyth being out is a bit of a surprise, though. Didn't think that shot that he blocked did all that much to him, but apparently it did.
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 So Forsberg and Hannan are probable, and Smyth is out... their best player over the first 2 games. They break even at best.
WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 I remember reading that Smyth was limping after the game but didn't think much of it. Must be pretty bad considering the Dives really need to win tonight.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 They can't catch a break....even when it looks like they'll get a shot in the arm, another needle breaks off.
Casey 145 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 They can't catch a break....even when it looks like they'll get a shot in the arm, another needle breaks off. Dang, I like that phrase. Permission to use it elsewhere, with credit of course?

Wing-in-avs-town 123 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Wow, didn't see that one coming. Smyth has been they're best forward so far. Flopa will play.
irishtemper14+25 11 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 well no matter how much this series was dominated by the wings....the avs were just "unlucky" and the wings wont receive credit for anything they did this series
scottDFW 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 well no matter how much this series was dominated by the wings....the avs were just "unlucky" and the wings wont receive credit for anything they did this series As a Dallas fan, it is obvious you guys totally overmatch the Avs. Watching some of each your previous series, I was expecting short series win for you this time. At best, I expect they could only keep it from being a complete blow-out if they were all healthy. Now they won't even manage that (or rather, now they will continue being unable to manage even that).
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Smyth out = good for us. Hejduk is injured too, but he plays through it.
40#1Fan 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Ryan Smyth (foot) is definitely out for Colorado. Scott Hannan (foot) and Peter Forsberg (groin) are probable, but Hannan was hobbled walking around the arena. For Detroit, there are no lineup changes. http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/
Turkey 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 My guess is Smyth's foot swelled up after taking the skate off. Whatever's wrong with him may not have been evident until then.
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 My guess is Smyth's foot swelled up after taking the skate off. Whatever's wrong with him may not have been evident until then. He hurt his foot kicking his team in the ass trying to get them going!!!
wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 I think this may be appropriate for tonight with this news. Smyth was by far their best player.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Great, now those jackasses and their moronic fanbase are going to make more excuses. Oh well, I guess whatever is bad for them is good for us, without us having to apologize for it.
Uncle Danny 155 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 I might be in the minority, but I think this news stinks. I want to beat a healthy team, not one heavy with injuries.

Who cares.... you'll forget all about that whining when you are prepping for round 3 while they are hitting the links.

True, but you know their idiot fans are going to come on here and make excuses about how they only lost due to injuries and crap like that. Hell, some people here still use excuses about our injuries last year as the reason for why we didn't win the Cup. I would just prefer for the Wings to beat a healthy divealanche team, and not a depleted one, because I still think we'd sweep them.
Bad Vlad Forever 1 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 we're missing kopecky and maltby right? i call it even.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 we're missing kopecky and maltby right? i call it even. I thought Maltby was already able to play, but Babcock is keeping him out?
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 I thought Maltby was already able to play, but Babcock is keeping him out? I'm guessing Malts isn't playing because everything is going so well right now *with Helm in the line up* so why fix it if ain't broke.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 I thought Maltby was already able to play, but Babcock is keeping him out? He is, but his point is that the Wings have some injuries/missing starters as well. Maybe not on the scale that the Avalanche do, but there's not much to assume the Avs would have better fortunes based on their regular season performance against the Wings. Granted there was injuries there to, but there's nothing you can do about it, just like there was nothing the Wings could do about it last year. You just have to work hard, and if your effort isn't enough to put you over the top, than it wasn't meant to be.

It would certainly better prepare you for later rounds (barring injuries).
