96warrior 11 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/ Johan Franzen will practice with the Red Wings tomorrow. The forward, who has been sidelined by headaches, hasn't played since Game 1 of the Western Conference final. Franzen did not speak with the media today. He likely will not play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final. "He's going to be available, I don't know at what point," said coach Mike Babcock. "We're real optimistic. Doctors make those decisions. I don't think he's going to play in Game 1. But anytime after that (he might play)." "He's ready," said Babcock. "There's no coaching perspective in this. It's all doctors. He's tipping pucks in the back of the net. He's flying around at 100 miles an hour. ... He's ready to go. He's just got to get the OK."
katiephd 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Still felt a bit hesitant until Babcock's, "He's tipping pucks in the back of the net. He's flying around at 100 miles an hour."

katiephd 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 More freaking good news: Cleary practiced without the chin guard!!!! One bit of good news for slump-ridden Dan Cleary: He got medical clearance to ditch the chin guard on his helmet, so today was the first day he practiced without it. -- http://info.detnews.com/redesign/blogs/win...cfm?blogid=1570

high_stick69 7 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 How huge would it be to have the mule back!?! Even though they say he won't play in game 1, I have a feeling he's going to dress. If he's cleared to fly around at 100 mph, how could he not be cleared to play? Either way great news! We need his size and scoring touch!!
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Can you imagine the boost this would give the team playing on the road in games 3 & 4? Oh the matchup humanity!

10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Whats the better news, Franzen will likely play at some point and maybe in game 1, or McCarty will once again be a healthy scratch when he returns? Anything to get him out of the lineup.

P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 "He's flying around at 100 miles an hour." Babcock seems to be hinting Franzen has a foot injury of some sort. He used to be quicker. Anyway, I hope he'll dress for the game one even if he's just 90%.
zaxx 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 The Free Press is actually making it sound more likely that he WILL play on Saturday. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...BLOG09/80522076 That article also mentions that Draper's wife had a baby!
