It was a sucker punch to the back of Johan's head. While the result of the punch might not be the same, the classlessness of the act is in the same breath as Bertuzzi's punch.

I can't agree. Roberts just did kind of a drive-by. Just a split-second thing. One punch and that was it. Bertuzzi stalked his victim for like 10 seconds, pounced, drove his head into the ice and continued whaling on him. No comparison.

For me it's not the Roberts punch that pisses me off. Sure I dont like it, but hockey is hockey.... it was when Malone came up and did the same damn thing shortly thereafter that has me incensed with the Pens.

I agree completely. I didn't think for a second it hurt his head, but clearly in slo-mo Roberts-pig-copulator's thumb went into Franzen's eye. Franzen grabbed and covered his EYE when he hit the ground. That wasn't diving. Let me shove a thumb as hard as I can into your eye and see if you respond without covering it and hitting the dirt!

this is when i wish the Wings would have reported Franzen's injury as a "lower-body injury" so the Pens wouldn't know his head was messed up. as a fan, it's fine with me, let me know once the playoffs are over what's actually wrong with him. teams should never have to declare the true injury because this intentional stuff will always happen.

Give him credit, though -- he had arguably the best scoring chance in the game for the Pens and he gave his team a pulse there towards the end.

Not to say his punch wasn't gutless and weak, but he made an impact -- something that can't be said of most of his team mates.

Definitely headhunting by Roberts. The Pens got dirty when they lost 3-0 to the Rangers in game 4 of that series. Malkin with a couple of slew foots to Paul Mara; so this doesn't suprise me one bit. They are a team of low-class sore losers. I hate this Pens team with a passion.

He must have a oddly shaped shoulder. Either that or his human anatomy teacher back in high school was huffing glue.

Any sort of retaliation by the Wings in game 3 would be silly. Was I pissed with what happened in game 2? Yeah, but it goes to show you how frustrated the pens are and have had no answers for the Red Wings up to this point. Red Wings just need to play like they have been, and if the pens want to goon it up this series will be all over, except for the crying by Crosby and Co.

I'm baffled that the league isn't doing anything about this. what if Mac blindsided crosby on the side of the head like that (of course he never would)? Bettman would have suspend him before the finla buzzer sounded....
