Pitts press conference live now...

Nothing much from what I saw. Just said that the NHL has "good referees, they do the best they can..." (interesting coming from the coach of team that lost two goals to phantom calls).

Kind of glossed over the meeting with NHL officials today, some of it concerning head shots. Babcock said he didn't talk, just listened.

No lineup changes tonight.

I sure hope the league official was reassuring Babs on some things. you would hope they would say if anything like the crap in game 2 happens again they will take care of it so players don't have to take it into their own hands.

also, since Mule just came back from "concussion like symptoms" would a blow to the head like Roberts/Whitney gave him be considered intent to injure? and should it be treated with a type of major penalty/game misconduct?

just wondering.

"Dee obstucktion is der... we puck possession team, dey a puck possession team... dis da firt time we cant get dee puck... i hope dee refs call dee obstruction, it's der... we need to git our power-play out der..."

Pathetic. This guys a a Grade A 100% ass-clown. I'd be embarassed to be a Penguins fan with this crybaby behind the bench.

That is funny as hell !! :hehe::clap:

I agree, I would not want him as my coach.

I can see it now "Penalty, Detroit, #93....two minutes for playing hockey"

I say that all the time when I'm watching the game with my wife....

Wife: what was the call this time?

Me: 2:00 for playing hockey

i say 2:00 for being a legend.

From the league's standpoint, I would have to say "no", but from a moral standpoint I would absolutely say "yes". Here's the thing, if a player is playing in the NHL he should be able to take whatever hits are dealt to him. If a guy has a leg injury and someone hits him there, you wouldn't really consider that "intent to injure", rather that's just making it difficult for your opponent at this time of the year. But someone coming back from a head injury where permanent brain damage is always a concern, I would think would be someone that you wouldn't give a cheapshot to the head behind a play. This doesn't really have to do with "intent to injure" because to take away the objectivity you need to consider an injury an injury, regardless of what it is.

All that being said, if you can live with knowing that you could potentially be responsible for causing long-term brain damage to a guy by means of cheapshotting, I question the type of human being you are.

yeah, that makes sense to me. I guess it's just a sleezy thing to do.

I thought the most ridiculous thing he said yesterday was when someone asked him why Crosby and Malkin had so little ice time in Game 2. His reply was that they only had 4 minutes of power play while the Wings had 13 minutes of PP.

That in addition to the fact that niether of them are allowed to play on the penalty kill because of their defense, that and malkin would get tired and fall asleep with anymore minutes played.

In spite of his late game cheap shots I think as far as talking to the press goes Roberts has been the best one talking Pens. He made no excuses for the team and basically gave the Wings credit. When talking about the goals scored he said eight for the Wings so he's even being honest on the one that was called back. Also said it's hard to work up a good hate for the Wings because they don't get into the dirty play. He may not be the classiest player on the ice, but it least he's a man and not pissy little boys like the coach and most of the team.

Cheapshot to Franzen aside, I've always liked Roberts. I didn't hear any of his comments, but it wouldn't surprise me that he would be a man about it.

Did he bring a goalie stick and go, "Slashing, when you take your stick and do dis, *stick* see, and dere's a penalty. And then for trip, you know, like dis *stick* and for hook like dis *stick* and for spear, like dat *stick* and you go to da box, and you feel shame. And den you free."

He actually said he thought it was his shoulder that caught him. That's an absolute lie as his shoulder was only involved to help his left hand slam into the side of Franzen's head.

But that aside, I've always been a Roberts fan myself. He's a competitor. What we sometimes forget is that hockey is a lightning fast sport that rides on the emotional edge. Coaches, players and fans are always asking players to play with emotion but then we expect them to have the fortitude to always keep it in check.

Hockey is different from other team sports in that it's perfectly acceptable, and in some cases, expected, for players to act out when things aren't going their way. Getting beat on the scoresheet? Then beat them in the alley. That's all Roberts was doing and it's happened for years and years. The Wings of the mid-80's were no exception.

Regarding Therien, SI recently polled 360 NHL players about who they'd like to be coached by and who they'd hate to be coached by. #1 for most liked was Babcock, Keenan came in first for least liked with Therrien a close 2nd.

I know I couldn't stomach that french accent for more than 2 seconds before I'd call my agent and tell him "Trade me right f**king now!" and then hang-up.

Check out his interviews on TSN. I was actually pretty impressed with his take on things. He's probably the only real man on their team. At least the only one that's gotten any press time.

I think he's saving that for Game 4. His jersey was at the cleaners.

I've yet to meet someone who doesn't love that movie.

unfortunately roberts didn't man up to intentionally punching mule in the head... like another poster already mentioned, roberts claimed that he caught mule with his shoulder... well, if you look at the replay he did catch mule with his right shoulder, but then promptly punched him in the side of the face with his left hand... i guess roberts forgot to mention that.
