The guy had the puck in front of him and was scared everytime a damn Penguin was coming 15 feet close to him. Somebody please remind me; was Chelios playing this bad? I would be VERY SHOCKED if Babs doesn't take action and throw this guy out of hte line up. A. Lilja 09:15 N. Lidstrom 25:34 Shouldn't Lidstrom be playing 30 minutes during the SCF?! Take those 9 minutes of Power Play to the Pens (AKA Lilja on the ice) and reduce it to 5. He didn't do anything magnificent, he didn't have any OMG HE PULLED A LILJA moments that cost the team, and truthfully, he only really had one OMG HE PULLED A LILJA moment that didn't result to anything bad. But wasn't Lilja checked by a Pens player, (Roberts I think) which caused the turnover which led to Crosby's 2nd goal? He played awful tonight. It's just so disheartening to watch him play great one game, and then completely the opposite the next. And to be honest, I'm not sure bringing in Cheli would do much good. The Pens players would be too fast for him to handle IMO. Whats sad about the play was that he had the damn puck right in his stick for a good 2 seconds before a Penguin came up to him. He gets to the puck first - then what does he do? He looks up to see if there is a Penguin coming up. WELL GUESS WHAT LILJA; YOUR WARNING SIGNS WERE CORRECT, EXCEPT YOU ACTED STUPIDILY. Great hockey players like Lids or Dats would have a feel to a Pen coming up to them, and they would not have to waste time look up to see, they would quickly dump the puck out before a Pen arrived. I'm not asking him to be Lids, but God your a NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE PLAYER - you should have the skills for this, since you made it this high. But hey, at least it happened when we had a series lead. And look at the bright side of inconsistencies. They just might as well come out swinging next game and absolutely annihilate the birds. The point is, the team had its share of downs in the game and that's what cost them the win. I have full faith in Babs to ensure that it doesn't happen again. The Pens players would be too fast for him to handle IMO. People get checked into the boards all the time by a forechecker which causes a turnover. Samuelsson did it perfectly to Hal Gill in game 1. It's not just an OMG HE PULLED A LILJA job where Lilja is the one and only one that can be guilty of this happening. He played neither good or bad. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I hope they don't resign him. I wouldn't go that far yet. While I've said my fair share of things about Lilja in the past, I think he can still pick up on some great things while being in Detroit. This is why I dont have a problem with Stuward having a bad game - you always know he is going to come back likea warrior and have a great game.
