NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 When do we get the story on Franzen? van Zant said yesterday we'd hear in the next day or two, so I can't imagine it'll be much longer. Probably later today or tomorrow.
WingsZR2 1 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 I heard Lids played with the weight of a franchise on his shoulders and because of it he played an extra two minutes per night. Its apparently something Stevie passed on to him. I also heard that Zetterberg could catch the same thing.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 I didnt see Kronwall Deliver any massive hits in the Penguins series like he did in the other 3, Im guessing something was up with him. Either that or all Theriens whining made the Refs say "Do that again and we'll call you for charging" Anyway, Holland had this to say on injuries The Red Wings expect to know next week whether Tomas Holmstrom will need to undergo surgery. The Wings suspect Holmstrom has a hernia, which has bothered him since March and limited his effectiveness during the playoffs. "It appears he's got a sports hernia," general manager Ken Holland said Thursday. "We'll send him to a specialist next week. We won't know for sure until they go and look. He missed the last 13 games of the regular season, and we weren't sure if he could play in the playoffs. We thought maybe he could help us win the first round. His determination and his pain threshold won out, but by Game 6 he couldn't skate any more, and that's why he hardly played in the third period." Recovery from such surgery usually requires six to eight weeks, meaning Holmstrom would be ready for camp. Holland also revealed that Valtteri Filppula played with a sprained medial collateral ligament, which is why he didn't practice. "It never could get better because he was playing every day," Holland said. "But he battled through." Johan Franzen missed six games in the third and fourth rounds because of mysterious headaches, but Holland said he wanted to talk to Franzen before revealing any details. He added emphatically, "Johan did not have a concussion." Holland said those were the only significant injuries the team had during the playoffs. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../806060408/1048
Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 I am really curious - and concerned - to see just what Franzen's problem was/is. Holland's statement has me very worried.
Guest redwingsfan04 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 wat was wrong with the mule? they arent saying its making me worried but they would not let him play if it was serious
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted June 6, 2008 wat was wrong with the mule? they arent saying its making me worried but they would not let him play if it was serious yah exactly, it can't be too bad because otherwise he'd never been cleared to play. I'm still quite curious as to what it was and it makes it a little more odd that they still just can't come out and say it.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 7, 2008 Stuart played amazing in the finals for a guy with a bad knee injury.
AUWingsFan 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2008 Did you hear the latest on Crosby. Apparently he played through menstrual cramps the entire series... That's by far the funniest thing I've heard in a long time!!!

Yzermania 156 Report post Posted June 7, 2008 what about the one on malone yah after that they stopped, but I don't think it's because he was hurt...I think they were looking out for him ,I saw people spin away and give up the puck several times to avoid hits from the wall. norrisnick 1 Report post Posted June 7, 2008 Nik and Stu were +6 and absolute monsters the first two games. The Pens played very safe against them after that.
TSM 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) I have so much respect for all of these guys given the nature of all of their injuries. Playing through pain and not bitching about it or demanding special press because of suffering related to their craft. After Yzerman retired, I never thought that I would have the sort of pride in the team that I do now. Hockey players and the sport in general deserve so much more inside press related to these quiet stories of overcoming obstacles. Winning in this sport is so much more about heart as compared to the most talented team. As Wings fans, we are lucky to have a team and organization that represents both. Bluedevils_13 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Ya Franzen had a freaking bruise on his brain WTF MAN!? Filppula was prob playing at 50% Holmstrom at 25%, they all played like warriors. I don't know what was up with Cleary, maybe he could have been bothered by his jaw, but none of us probably expected him to get outscored by Helm. donfishmaster 62 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Warriors, all of them. -- http://info.detnews.com/redesign/blogs/win...cfm?blogid=1886 These can't all be true. Remember, I've heard it all year(s): the Wings aren't tough enough, young enough, fast enough, hungry enough, North American enough (bite my nards Don Cherry,) big enough, pedantic enough, fatuous enough, anaphyllactic enough, etc, etc. AND IF THEY WERE TRUE, then all of the Wings should have Gatorade contracts instead of that guy who won...hmmm....OK, he didn't actually WIN anything but he....hmmm....he tried hard!
