katiephd 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Warriors, all of them. Injuries? Yeah, they had a few. More than a few, actually. Talked to a champagne-soaked trainer, Piet van Zant, in the Zamboni entrance a couple hours ago and his initial response was, "Everybody was playing through something." But then he rattled off the abridged version: Tomas Holmstrom was playing with a sports hernia (for a long time) and a torn hamstring. Valtteri Filppula wasn't practicing because of a fairly signficant knee injury. Brad Stuart also was playing with a knee injury that would've had him sitting in the regular season. Darren Helm limped out of there tonight with a nasty Charley horse. And, yes, there was more than just concussion-like symptoms plaguing Johan Franzen, but van Zant said the team and Franzen will wait a day or two before explaining what exactly went on with that whole saga. -- http://info.detnews.com/redesign/blogs/win...cfm?blogid=1886

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 s*** son, all of this will be downplayed by something that was wrong with crosby/malkin and they will be made out as heroes GREAT JOB WINGS!!!!!!!!!! As long as they're heroes without the Cup, that's all I care about. Whatever makes the hockey world feel better, I guess. I just care that the Wings are the Stanley Cup Champs. Also, I'm beyond intrigued to learn what was going on with Franzen (a little nervous, too).

ifonlyicouldskate 11 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I stubbed my toe back in the predators series. I was throwing a temper tantrum and kicked the coffee table because FSN was playing a Tigers/Yankee game and didn't cut over to the playoff game till the last second. Very scary time for me. almost life threating :rotflmao:

I was throwing a temper tantrum and kicked the coffee table because FSN was playing a Tigers/Yankee game and didn't cut over to the playoff game till the last second. Very scary time for me. almost life threating :rotflmao: haha, I broke my pinky toe in the Dallas series. I think it was Game 5. Never watch playoff hockey barefoot.. lesson learned. I too wonder what was wrong with Franzen. But man was it great finally seeing Zetterberg healthy for the playoffs.

RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I too am curious about Franzen. But I wouldn't worry too much - there is NO way doctors or the team let him play if he has any kind of noggin injury that could compromise his health. We'll see but I don't think it will be too bad. yoops14 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I was thinking about this very thing today when I reading about how Crosby, Malking, Gonchar, etc. were playing with some type of dehabilitating injury. I thought to myself- A. It's the playoffs, EVERYONE plays with something, and B. I guarantee there were Wings playing with injuries, but they didn't need to come up with excuses as to why they didn't win and therefore did not make a big deal about it. C-Dub 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 As it has been said before, at this time of the year, everyone is playing with some sort of an injury or another...it is just not advertised. Great job, Red Wings! I wonder what Flip would have done without a knee injury...wow.

Firehawk 305 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Well that explains some of the boneheaded plays by Stuart at times... I guess in the heat of the moment we assume they're 100% healthy and start dogging them lol. To me it looked like Datsyuk had something wrong with him as well, unless you think the Pens just did the job with him. Dats didn't really seem the same in the 4th round. That makes it all the more impressive that the Wings pulled this thing out as dominantly as they did.
