Legendary D In 03 50 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Good insurance policy for our tandem. It was him who did such a great job relieving for Fleury in Pittsburgh during the regular season last year, right? Word, LDi03
Rice 42 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Good deal. He was great for the Penguins this year and can step in if needed. He'll create some competition for Howard.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Well it is not Kolzig - but I will take it... He played well for the Pen's when their goalies went down...
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Just saw this and I don't mind it at all. He did well with Pittsburgh and he will compete for the backup spot. At least this takes Ray Emery out of the picture.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Didn't see that coming! Conklin's a good goalie, so I'm happy with this move. He'll make a solid backup to Osgood if Howard doesn't pan out, and give Howard some good competition as well.
Cicada 4 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 about the best cheap goaltender available.. great deal

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Not a bad deal, he played great with Pittsburgh. Plus he is very cheap as well.

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) excellent, Kenny... he will fit in just fine. this is probably the happiest day of Conklin's life. Edited July 1, 2008 by puckloo39
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) Looks like the man went 18-8 last year: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/2742 There is the 25-30 games I was talking about... Maybe the Wings can get 35 games out of him and Ozzie carries the rest... Edited July 1, 2008 by Rivalred
Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 I think we will once again have the cheapest cup-winning goaltending tandem in the league. Conklin is a strong positional goaltender IIRC, and his stats were very solid in Pittsburgh last year.
dteowner 20 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 GRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHY!!!! PUT HOWARD IN ALREADY DAMN IT!! We're just bound and determined not to let any young guys into the lineup. Perhaps we're seeing the invisible hand of Scotty Bowman? Kind of ironic that the Wings are getting stroked for such good drafting but we refuse to play any of them. Superman54 91 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Rather have Kolzig but this guy did look good with Pittsburgh, Solid Deal.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 about the best cheap goaltender available.. great deal Agreed. He was my favourite too. He was amazing when Fleury was injured.
deker 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Huh. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, but I was never that impressed with Conklin. I kind of thought his performance stepping in for Fleury last year was a bit of an aberration.
