To make it a COMPLETE grand slam of an off-season -

Personally, there are a few moves I would like to see to consider this an absolute GRAND SLAM of an off season -
- Sign Pavol Demitra to a 1 or 2 year deal at 3 a year - Demitra is a great faceoff guy, penalty killer, good wheels and has gotta be yearning for that cup - good leadership as well and could be a GREAT mentor to Hudler
- Sign Georges LaRaque to a 1 year deal at about 1 mil at a limited role- Great energy guy, who will go through a wall for teammates - Adds grit and toughness and can still actually chip in for about 30 pts in a year
trade Lebda and/or Quincey for future draft picks
When all is said and done - Here are your 4 lines
Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
Franzen-Filppula-Cleary
Hudler-Demitra-Samuelsson
Maltby-Draper-Kopecky
Laraque
Lidstrom-Rafalski
Kronwall-Stuart
Lilja/Chelios-Lebda/Meech/Quincey (depending on who is dealt)
Osgood
Conklin
Howard
Not too expensive, not too flashy, but I think would just fuel to the fire that is already there and still leave cap room for the future...
All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:
and finally
Holland is a damn good GM. period.

i'm more than happy with McCarty/Downey as our token enforcer and i really don't rate Demitra.
Plus they'res no way we can get him for 3 mill
i'd resign Chelios, trade Qunicy or Meech.
sign a top 6 foward. Maybe Naslund.
But i'd just be as happy if we did nothing other than resign our RFA's...
we're damn well set up already. Best defense in the league by a mile already.

I would tend to agree that $3 million is pretty light for Demitra. I certainly wouldn't mind him for even a little higher than that and a 1-year deal, but I don't see it happening.
As for Downey, DMac and Laraque: I believe Kenny already said he's going to offer both of them two-way contracts. The only thing we know for sure is that DMac will be offered some form of a contract given Kenny has stated publicly that he will. As I said, as much as I like Downey, and obviously love DMac, a guy like Laraque offers more and could be had for probably around what DMac and Downey make combined.

Trade Flip for Ovechkin.
Naturally, both would be willing to play for the league minimum since they'd be so honored to play for the Wings.
The demon code prevents me from declining a rock-off challenge.

This leaves us plenty of money at years end and for next year when need to lock up Hank and The Mule.

Williams is garbage. He was afraid to go to tough areas, especially after the hard hit he took from Torres. He was the kind of player that was responsible for the early exits.

Laraque? You're kidding right? The guy is slow and has no skill. We already have Downey. 1 low skill guy is more than enough

I assume be early exits you mean he plays a light amount of games per season. Wil he has played 201 of a possible 246 possible, thats better than Bertuzzi will give.
He doesn't need to the workhorse,
Besides he was a "Witch" on the shootouts.

He was reffereing to William's permiter play instead of going in the slot or corners or crashing the net. Without doing one of those 3 you are f***ED in the playoffs/
