Honestly, I'll be surprised if he makes the cut out of camp. He's got a ton of potential, but he'll need time to adjust, imo.

Wrong on every level. Hossa had 26 points in the playoffs (third overall), and seven of those points came against Osgood who he evidently "owns." That means Hossa still had 19 points in the three playoff rounds prior to the finals. How in the hell is that a disappearing act? Hossa was BY FAR the Penguins best player against the Red Wings.
I like Sundin and all, but there is no way he compares to Marian Hossa at this point. Hossa is a complete, two-way player, who also happens to be eight years younger than Sundin. If the rumors are true about Sundin getting offers for ten million dollars per season, why would you want a LESS productive player for MORE money? Lets say the Red Wings did sign Sundin for 9-10 million, you can pretty much say goodbye to Val Filppula this summer. With Hossa's contract, the Red Wings still have the cap space to keep Filppula, Chelios, Mac/Downey.
This deal is all it is being made out to be and more. The best team in the NHL just signed the top free agent available for well-below market value. Hossa > Sundin every day of the week.

Isn't it the philosophy that everyone and anyone has to work for a spot on the roster pretty much?

The Pittsburgh boads are in turmoil right now, calling Hossa a traitor and they hope he dies (no, seriously) and finding it unbelievable that someone wouldn't want to be in the same room to be ecliped by the shadow that is cast by the wonderful, amazing, sensational, second coming of Christ Sidney Crosby. Was Hossa drafted and bred by the Penguins? As it was mentioned, he was a trade deadline acquisition who had no obligation to re-sign, just like Stewie had no obligation to re-sign with the Wings. Can anyone really blame Hossa for wanting to win? If you can't beat em, join em.
Welcome to Hockeytown, Marion Hossa!!!!

I just got back from work, and when someone told me Hossa was moved to the West, I assumed it was Edmonton. I guess something must have changed in a day.
I doubt we'll have him for any more than a year with Hank's contract coming up, so we better use him well while we have him.
We're not locks to win the Cup, because winning the Cup is difficult, but we're certainly the heavy favorite right now.

Marian Hossa was born in the Czechoslovak republic (which broke apart in 1992) in Trencin - a town that was in the Slovakian part of the common state and now is in Slovakia. So Hossa was never Czech, moreover he always played for Slovakia ( for example the Torino Olypics and WCH 2004). I'm sorry but we feel insulted when someone just mistakes our players with others.
Here some links with solid info : (yeah, some "professional" sites don't have that)

It was more tongue and cheek - in the past members of the site have criticized certain players... But I do understand the significance of your nationality and heritage - no harm was intended...
Glad he is here also and welcome to the site!

Could Hossa be the player that makes Kopecky better? Could hossa give Koko that extra push to become the player we all want him to be?
