question about Datsyuk's number

If you notice, prospects are usually assigned high numbers (40s and 50s) for training camps before they make the team. Once a guy has cemented his position in the organization, he'll usually switch to a lower number.

not about datsyuk but at one time zetterberg wore #15

That was Holmstrom. I'm pretty sure Z has been #40 from the start. He was the infamous "best player outside of the NHL" before he came over so his sticking with the big club was a bit more certain. That and his first game he was on a line with Fedorov and Shanahan.

He did wear #56 at training camp, but when he did make the team he switched to 13. In fact, Ken Daniels asked him last season why he wore that number, and it turns out that when he started playing in Russia he had number 7. Another player came to the team and wanted that number, so he gave it up and took 13.

That can't be quite true. He couldn't have 7 coz that's Ted's number.

Egads, does he look young!

Hank has never worn 15 in a regular season game, he didn't ever wear 20.

His first year with the Wings he wore 40. That season Luc wore 20.

The pic of Hank is a training camp pic. I'm not sure why he has an 'A', the only think I can come up with is he wore the 'A' during one of the intersquad tourneys they have during training camp.

He meant when he was playing in Russia, dear. Sorry if I misled you.
