BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) Okay, say if selective hockey nations were to play each other 3 on 3, all forwards, with 2 lines each in a tournament... Which nation would come out on top? Some things to consider are skill and chemistry here. Canada Crosby - Thornton - Iginla Heatley - Lecavalier - St. Louis Goalie: Luongo USA Parise - Gomez - Kane Brown - Drury - Pominville Goalie: Miller Sweden Zetterberg - Sundin - Alfredsson Sedin - Sedin - Franzen Goalie: Lundqvist Czech Republic Elias - Plekanec - Jagr Prospal - Lang - Havlat Goalie: Vokoun Russia Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Kovalev Kovalchuk - Malkin - Morozov Goalie: Nabokov Slovakia Nagy - Gaborik - Hossa Demitra - Satan - Svatos Goalie: Budaj Finland J. Jokinen - O. Jokinen - Selanne Hagman - S. Koivu - Lehtinen Goalie: Kipprusoff Miscellaneous Vanek - Kopitar - Antropov Kostitsyn - Kostitsyn - Zubrus Goalie: Huet Canada would probably win, but the dominance and natural chemistry of Russia and Sweden would make a huge challenge. I think that'd be a good tourny though, who would win? Edit: I added an 8th miscellaneous team instead. Edited July 21, 2008 by BeeRYCE
Slave 31 Report post Posted July 21, 2008 if those were the lines i would have to say canada, then russia, i love sweden but if the sedins are your 2nd line you got problems i think..then again i hve thught the sedins were overrated since about 2 months into thier first nhl season. Unfortunately it takes more then 2 lines to win a championship..

Also, insert Filppula on the Finnish team, don't know how I didn't include him.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted July 21, 2008 No kovalchuk for Russia either. I think if you put him in they win in terms of raw talent easily

Theres not nearly enough toughness on any of those teams to win We all know from being on LGW that goons win Stanley Cups and tournaments, add Downey and Laraque to the Canadian team and they win hands down. Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted July 21, 2008 I'd have to go with Russia and Canada on top with the Swedes in 3rd. Unfortunately my boys aren't looking to power packed at the moment. The good news is that USA does have a nice mix of players starting to fill out NHL rosters: Don't forget Tim Connolly (when not hurt he's pretty damn good offensively) Brandon Dubinski (young, semi-rugged do it all rookie that i'd kill to have on the Wings) Nick Foligno Paul Gaustad Chris Higgins Ryan Kesler David Legwand Peter Mueller Paul Stastny RJ Umberger Erik Cole Ryan Malone Eric Nystrom Jared Boll (ok, so he wouldn't make the team but I still love the kid) Patrick Eaves Bobby Ryan Lee Stempniak Keith Ballard Matt Carle Eric Johnson Brett Lebda (had to include him) Matt Niskanen and lots of veterans like Rafalski, DiPietro, USA will rise eventually! omnipotent_hudler 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2008 Gotta go with Russia -- it's not even fair... yep, but if we're talking olympics USA/Canda has an advantage because Vancouver is too cheap to shell out money for a regulation size sheet of international ice. Gotta disagree. Those European nations are going to be mostly NHL talent, who are all too familiar with how to play on North American ice.

GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted July 21, 2008 Frolov would be on the Russian team ahead of Morozov. I'd have to give them the edge in terms of raw talent and the ability to dazzle someone with the puck.
