GSBrooks13 204 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 So what you're essentially saying is that if they are non-compliant for the entire season, then their record would only be slightly worse that it was last year? Save the money. Yes.. but I guess last is last.. I don't recall at any point in NHL history a team having to forfeit a game.. but I dont really think that a team would let it get that far.. they will reach the minimum even if it means overpaying for some lower-tier players just to get them up there.. 2probert4 8 Report post Posted July 24, 2008 Burke is going to bolt, because his ship is sinking. Rats tend to do that you know. Brian Burke is an overrated GM, he made a mess and left in Vancouver, now he walked into a gold mine at Anaheim, now its starting to have some problems, and probably next for him will be to run that almost sunken battleship , namely the Toronto Maple Laffs. The game the night of the infamous Richard Riot in Montreal was forfeited midway through the game by the Habs when fans starting setting off smoke bombs in the Forum. Matt 1,049 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 If I remember correctly, doesn't failing to make the cap floor result in forfeiture of revenue sharing eligibility? Not sure how that'd apply to a larger overall market like LA (as opposed to Nashville not hitting the floor, for example) but I seem to recall that... Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted July 25, 2008 I suspect a deal for Khabibulin may be in the works for L.A. Makes sense... they get a high priced player that they could use in the short term (they've got a pair of good goalies in the wings with one of them being really good). Makes more sense than tying their hands up by overpaying one of their own RFAs then having it bite them in the ass when they're trying to keep a young team together in a few years.
