dobbles 252 Report post Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) i am listening to the chicago cubs game at work on the radio. he is currently being interviewed by ron and pat (the radio team). he said he has a deal for next year but hasn't been around to sign it and isn't into the tech stuff to keep in touch. then the cubs did really terrible and they had to cut the interview short. edit: it might be worth it if anyone has the chance to catch the cubs game on tv to see if he says anything during the tv interview in the bottom of the 7th. dobbles 252 Report post Posted August 22, 2008 he did a great job on singing.. i was prepared for a rossanne style disaster i agree. he did pretty decent. wasn't sure how the fans would react. the key to singing, is getting low enough for the first note. its significantly lower than the rest of the song. The only players i see this happening to (ie: we rip a guy a new one) is when an individual does something on the ice that is either dirty, childish, or overall unacceptable (tootoo, pronger, mcsorely, bertuzzi, mclennan goalie slash ect). Aside for a general hate for crosby (more so about the media blowing his dong not about him as a person/player) i feel we are quite controlled in our "hatred" of individuals. maybe i'm biased towards our team/boards, but i feel that we generally have a let it slide attitude about things like this, or AT LEAST, half of us take one side and half take the other. over there, it looks like one guy says "chelios just wants to take the worlds greatest trophy back to his hometown, not rub it in our faces" where as everyone else is hoping he's hit by a train. real mature. ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) are all people from Chitown that dumb? Nevermind I forgot they thought that if they made the playoffs they would have beat us, oh and Ben Wallace was going to be just as good there as he was here. b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted August 22, 2008 I cannot even believe how many pathetic fans are on that Blackhawks board. There was ONE guy who acknowledged the fact that Cheli was just bring the cup back to his hometown. Everyone there thinks its some elaborate 'F&%$ YOU' Chicago gesture. It would be funny if it wasn't so damn sad...
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted August 23, 2008 Chicago fans are pathetic. They would rather see the Red Wings lose than the Blackhawks win. "Detroit Sucks" on every post? Oh really, why do the Red Wings have more championships in the past 11 years than the Blackhawks have in franchise history? What a joke of a fan base. And the reaction to the initial poster who thought it was neat that Cheli came with the Cup? Personally, I think you should have earned a banning for this comment. For the record, it is NOT COOL for ANY Dee troit sucks player to bring the Cup to Chicago and rub our collective noses in it. Wow. Just...wow.

weGotTheCup89 41 Report post Posted August 23, 2008 actually if you look around there's a thread on LGW from last night about how everyone hates the Chinese. don't know if that counts i lied. after reading that blackhawks thread, i don't think we do that at all. sergei_is_still_a_wing 1 Report post Posted August 23, 2008 actually if you look around there's a thread on LGW from last night about how everyone hates the Chinese. don't know if that counts IS there? i find that hard to believe. It is most likely more about the chinese using less than fair tactics in order to win gold medals (IE the 12 yr old gymnast. even most chinese people don't buy that she's 16. she looks 7). although i'd have to read the thread. Note: If you eliminate all sports in these olympics that are decided by a judge of anysort (ie, boxing, gymnastics, diving, synch. swimming, GR wrestling ect.) and thus take away medals won from all countries in those events, The US is dominating in over all medals and would be leading China by 3-4 Golds. Coincidence that China, the host country, has almost twice as many golds as any other country? you be the judge. [These stats came from a Yahoo column a day or 2 ago]. i'm sure the "we hate china" sentiment has more to do with this type of stuff than "we hate the chinese as a race"

So instead of sinking down to "their level", how about we just ignore what they say about us, not bash them, and just appreciate the athletes (like Cheli) that like to bring their prized possesions to their hometown to pay homage.
