Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 As per TSN The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Brad Isbister to a one-year, two-way contract. The 10-year NHL veteran spent the 2007-08 campaign playing for the Vancouver Canucks, where he recorded six goals and five assists in 55 games. He made his NHL debut in 1997-98 with Phoenix, playing in 66 games with the Coyotes in his rookie season. Isbister has recorded 222 points in 541 career NHL games with Phoenix, the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Vancouver. The 31-year-old Edmonton native was the third-round choice (67th overall) of the Winnipeg Jets in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. The only reason I felt this was worth mentioning was there were rumors that Ottawa had signed an "unnamed winger, who would compete for a spot in training camp". The rumors had gone as far to even include Brendan Shanahan as one of the possible choices, but obviously it didn't come to that. On another note, it's pretty funny to see that this is his 5th team in the past 4 seasons. The traveling suitcase players are always an interesting story. Plus, it's news. Sorta. Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted September 6, 2008 I like Izzy, He's a big body, somewhat skilled, somewhat gritty, just cant put it all together to become a complete package..
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted September 6, 2008 Isbister would be a better player if he ever learned to score consistantly, fight, or do something good on a regular basis. He brings various elements to the game, but he doesn't do any of them well.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2008 And to think there was talk of Ottawa challenging Detroits 62 win season last year. They're only substantial addition came in the form of a trade which proved an even swap at best. They gain Isbister, Kuba, Smith, and Ruutu, at the price of Meszaros, Redden, Stillman, Lapointe and Commodore. Or depending on how you want to look at it, at the price of Meszaros, Redden, Lapointe, Eaves, and Corvo. Either way, they've downgraded in every possible arena. Theres talk of them adding Schneider, which would soften the blow as he'd surprisingly be an equal replacement, perhaps even an upgrade, for Redden, but then cap space is still an issue. IMO, they missed the boat on a couple of seasons where they could've brought home the cup..
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted September 9, 2008 Ottawa wont even be in the playoffs this year. They've turned a team that could've won the Cup, to a joke.
