bellarina 1 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 The article states meech or quincey, but i would have to go with the big man I once again agree but I don't mind Quincey at all. Nothing against Meech.
Louisville 112 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 I'm putting my money on Meech, unless he ends up being the d-man who's moved. Ericcsson would be awesome though...

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 Anyone know if it's the same knee he had operated in this past offseason?
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 Not a terribly big deal, we've got enough good d-men to cover his spot.
Spinner 6 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) Noooo, I just ordered a Chelios jersey from some company on the other side of the planet Edited October 2, 2008 by Spinner
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 I would LOVE to see Ericsson, but it's not gonna happen... do people seem to forget that before the Chelios injury that we were carrying 9, yes 9 d-men that can not be optioned?! Even after someone is dealt, Ericsson will not be played up here, if anything, it just guarantees that at least one extra forward will be carried on the 23 man roster until Cheli is back... D pairings will be - Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lebda/Meech/Quincy-Lilja then out of Lebda/Meech/Quincy one will STILL be dealt and the other one will be a reserve and now 14 forwards will be carried instead of 13, count on it... Reilly 24 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 too bad it wasn't career-ending. You're telling me Meech or Quincey are better options right now than Chelios?
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 too bad it wasn't career-ending. ridiculous on all accounts.
scissorfight 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 i'd rather see meech on the ice than chelios, yes. quincey looks like s***, but at least he has the ability to improve his game. chelios is done like dinner.
Cicada 4 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 this doesn't solve any issues... unless Chelios goes on LONG TERM injured reserve we get no cap relief... so if we carried 23 players + chelios we'd still be over the cap...

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) this doesn't solve any issues... unless Chelios goes on LONG TERM injured reserve we get no cap relief... so if we carried 23 players + chelios we'd still be over the cap... if he's out 6 weeks, they WILL LTI him... regardless, one of the 3 d (Lebda/Meech/Quincy) is going to be moved anyway and then it won't matter, because between the other 23, we should still be below the cap (FYI - McCarty, Downey and Helm are all 500k or less of a hit) - Subtract 750 for Cheli and the approx 500k for the traded player, then add in the additional 250k (approx) left... and there is room... russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 i wouldn't be surprised to see the Wings still trade a d-man at the end of camp and then carry 14 forwards now, meaning one of McCarty or Downey, and one of Helm or Leino.
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 If only we had a logjam on D... Oh, right.
cnot19 191 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 This injury doesn't bother me at all. WIth the depth we have on D it doesn't matter. IN addition Chelios wasn't going to play on a nightly basis. Bring in Quincey.
Grim 5 Report post Posted October 2, 2008 so much for that purpoted "Bone Bruise"... Cheli, as much as we all love him, should really start thinkin about hanging up his skates. He's no spring chicken... six weeks is awefully tough for even young guys to bounce back from. it also kills a precious roster spot for someone else deserving.
