NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 I have no problem if Scottie comes back, but I just can't imagine he would.
Slave 31 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 if scotty coached the hawks? i don't think he would i think his days on the bench are done...but IF he did... i think the 02 skate around the rink would lose a little of its meaning
CenterIce 83 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 They did just sign Queneville in the off-season.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Quennville named coach per TSN. LOL as if the Hawks werent a big enough joke already!
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) TSN is reporting he's been replaced by Quenneville EDIT: Carlyle next? Edited October 16, 2008 by T-Ruff
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 This is such a mind-boggling decision.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Good ol' Quenneville. He was probably getting tired of only losing to the Wings 4 times a year anyway. Now that he's back in the division he can get back to what he's used to....being dominated by the Wings more often.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Timing???? Very odd.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 So much for the Hawks being our rival.
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 haha awesome..I hope we face them in playoffs..Stanley Cup guaranteed
Bliz 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 That's a bad move. With the progress made by the Hawks last season, Savard looked like the right guy for the job. And how does Quenneville keep getting gigs anyway? Hiring him has become the textbook first step in building second-tier teams. I expect at least a half dozen vintage Quenneville moments when the Wings and Hawks face off: random shuffling of goalies and general brain freeze in high-pressure moments. PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 great move 3 or 4 games in to the season! ... If they knew they were going to fire him why not in the summer before training camp ?
Icer 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) What is Detroit's record against Quenneville in the playoffs? 5-0? I know he was with the Blues when Detroit was knocking them out of the playoffs every year and last year Detroit swept Colorado. Never mind. I looked it up myself. Detroit knocked him out of the playoffs in 97, 98, 02, and 08. Hmmm... There's something familiar about those seasons. Jwo 7 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Did William Clay Ford Senior buy the Blackhawks? This sounds like a dumb move he would make.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 They fire him after they win their first game of the season?
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Knew it would happen eventually. When they hired on Quenneville as a "scout", it basically meant that he would be waiting in the wings if/when Savard faltered. No big surprise here. So who's on Chicago that can really goon it up? We'll need to watch out for those players now.
ChitownWingsfan 54 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Quennville named coach per TSN. LOL as if the Hawks werent a big enough joke already! I got invited to the Hawk game this weekend but declined. I might have to go now just to boo Quinny the Pooh.
Superman54 91 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 This comes as a suprise to me, considering Savard was doing pretty well from what I saw.
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted October 16, 2008 I'm intrigued by this. I'm wondering if it was planned, or (what I think is more likely) he stepped on the wrong toes (be it internal politics, or something more scandalous).
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 I'm glad most businesses don't base performance off two weeks of work; I know I wouldn't have kept some of my jobs if that were the case

I could've sworn Detroit had knocked St. Louis out of the playoffs a few more times other than their Cup seasons.

I could've sworn Detroit had knocked St. Louis out of the playoffs a few more times other than their Cup seasons. The Wings knocked the Blues out of the playoffs in '96, but Quenneville wasn't the coach. He started coaching the Blues in the 1996-97 season.
Shockwave180 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Hilarious. I was disappointed that the Q wasn't going to be around to coach one of our hapless rivals and get eliminated by us this year. And now, he's back! And with our biggest up-and-coming rival! This is amazing. I love the Hawks. They never cease to provide comedic entertainment, even after the death of Father Bill. Team Chaos strikes again.
Mors 201 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Hahahahah....Quenneville. Hold on let me catch my breath....hahahahaha. Yea, that'll fix the team right up, phew I needed a laugh.
