What would be the best possible line-up?

Okay, loyalty aside, with what we have in the system, how would you make the team better? Meaning who would you cut, who would you put in, and how would the line-up like after it's all said and done?

Here's what I would like to do. Put Sammy on waivers (if it doesn't work out, buy him out) and replace him with Helm, scratch Maltby and replace him with Leino, and scratch Lebda or Chelios to put Ericsson in.

I think our best possible line up could look like this...

Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom

Franzen - Filppula - Hossa

Cleary - Hudler - Leino (I don't exactly know for sure if Leino plays RW, but it could work out somehow)

Helm - Draper - Kopecky

Lidstrom - Rafalski

Stuart - Kronwall

Lilja - Ericsson

I love Maltby to death, but his day has ended since post lockout. Sammy and Lebda I think could be replaced with better talent. However, in the real world, I know this can't happen, but IMO, this is the best possible line up we could use with what we have... and I think it looks damn good.

Get Leino and Helm in the lineup, drop Kopecky and Hudler and mix the lines abit. I dont think Hudler is bringing much to the team honestly, and i prefer Maltby over Kopecky.

And for the first post, Leino plays LW or center but i guess he could learn to play RW too!

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom

Hossa - Filppula - Franzen

Cleary - Helm - Leino/Sammy

Hudler - Draper - Leino/Sammy

Maltby

Lidstrom - Rafi

Stuart - Kronwall

Lillypads - Ericsson

Chelios

Osgood

Conkblock

Maltby is an extra, rotate in Mac or Downs for specifically intense games . I hate Sammy as much as anyone can, but he's been far from the problem so far. Lebda just isn't a top-6 defenseman on an All-star calibre team (waive/trade). Kopecky has proved nothing at all.

You are 100% correct. The number of fights is not a good reflection of toughness.

So what is? How many hits we take before a star player is layed out on a stretcher?

If you saw a street fight you wouldnt say the person not fighting is the toughest because hes taking the hits. You'd say, wow that guys laid out. He should have hit back. Too late now.

That moment will happen eventually this season.

dang i thought malts been looking good out there so far,but them young guys looking very hungry for a spot. to be honest it dont matter to me im always satisfied with who we have.

I have to agree, Malts has been throwing the weight and being a little bit of an agitator. I like it.

Too much skill, lots of grit. Kopecky, Samuelsson and Hudler for some skate sharpeners so Helm can go even faster :D

Even trade Hudler and Sammy for a decent player to fulfill a second line roll like Kesler and a round pick

I know these lines will never happen, and most of you will probably think I have gone completely mad. But this is my honest opinion of the best possible line-ups. First of all, I want the old DZH line back. Franzen is a lock on second line wing, because I think he performs better as a winger.

So I have this much figured out:

Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom

??????? - ?????????? - Franzen

Next center for Franzens line, Hudler or Filppula? Filppula and Franzen have played well together past, so I chose Fil. And since Fil And Hossa have zero chemistry on ice, the winger is going to be Cleary or Leino. Choosing Leino would give better balance between lines, but Cleary is already a proven NHL:er. After these thoughts, the final set up ended looking like this, with Helm taking the roster spot from the one who doesn't perform, no matter who he his.

Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom

Cleary - Filppula - Franzen

Leino - Hudler - Hossa

Maltby - Draper - Sammy

Lidstrom - Rafalski

Kronwall - Stuart

Ericsson - Lilja

Osgood

Hossa needs to deserve second line minutes, or else hes a waste :P . You can switch second and third line if you like, but then Franzen is on the third line. Yes these are mad hatter lines, but not necessarily bad ones. And we will never see these lines, so no worries.

Holmstrom - Zetterberg - Franzen
Very interesting and fresh idea, might be worth a try. Edited by ArcticWing

Because after all 4 games hes done something not to deserve them? hes been great in our own end, just hasnt found the back of the net...

I didn't say he was bad, I was just messing with you. He just doesn't click well Datsyuk. He would probably find easier playing with Hank. Realistic move would be switch Franzen and Hossa. I just have a soft spot for DZH line, that clouds my judgement sometimes. Edited by ArcticWing
