Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 So all the suits can attend one team's games while all the Average Joes attend the other's? Sounds like a plan...
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 I say no more teams in the NHL trim some fat of the current state of the league go down to 26-
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 That would be great......then Toronto could piss-off/depress twice as many fans.

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 Won't happen due to territorial rights, which is why I have major doubts about the "source" of this "Governor".
CenterIce 83 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 As it said in the article, if it were to happen, it should be a current team moving. The league has a hard time keeping 30 teams stable and competitive. All this talk about a new franchise in Toronto, Las Vegas, or Kansas City needs to stop. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 Cool. I just don't see many Toronto fans forgoing the Leafs for a new team.
HadThomasVokounOnFortSt 878 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 Not going to happen. What would they even call the team? I don't think this would ever happen anytime soon. MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 I really can't see a team in Las Vegas of all places. It would work. The casinos would likely buy up all of the seats and then comp them out.
donfishmaster 62 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 The league really needs to get rid of all of these stupid, useless teams nobody cares about... like Colorado, Pittsburgh, Nashville, and Anaheim.

Bettman also wants to expand to Vegas. Yeah I guess in Kansas City could work. Its just hard to see a hockey team there. It would work. The casinos would likely buy up all of the seats and then comp them out. Yeah I guess it could work. I am sure it would get more people to the games, and hey NHL will be more popular. The league really needs to get rid of all of these stupid, useless teams nobody cares about... like Colorado, Pittsburgh, Nashville, and Anaheim. Not really.. Colorado, and Pittsburgh fans really do care about there team. The other two don't care about there team until it gets playoffs time.
DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 HAMILTON. How long is it going to take for this team to get a team? Didn't they have around 14,000 season ticket pledges in a couple days last Spring? Why would you just throw a team in the same exact area. The NHL is really worthless sometimes. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 I hate the idea of any city or state getting more then one of the same sports team. There are already so many instances of it that it hardly seems like it will make a difference. I only hope it would be a team from the east or the Preds that would be relocated. I really do not want any expansion teams going east. I want them going west so we can go east.

An expansion team being inserted into the Western Conference does not automatically imply the Wings will be moved to the East. Columbus itself is further East than Detroit. Columbus itself is further East than Detroit. I can see another team in the area, but not in Toronto proper. That'd be ridiculous. Can you imagine those die-hard Leaf fans who have suffered with their team for so many years just suddenly saying "you're right, the waiting wasn't worth it, let's just jump ship?" If they were willing to do that, they'd be Wings fans.
Jwo 7 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 (edited) An expansion team being inserted into the Western Conference does not automatically imply the Wings will be moved to the East. Columbus itself is further East than Detroit. But the fact their fans don't/never have to stay up late at night to watch their team during the post season puts them in the back seat and puts Detroit in the front running. Why would you just throw a team in the same exact area. The NHL is really worthless sometimes. One thing I am wondering about Hamilton is that I think their are in the expansion territory of Detroit, Toronto, and Buffalo, which would mean that those three teams would get to veto the addition. Also, the new team would have to pay all three teams an expansion fee. That would be expensive.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 It most certainly didn't last time. And I'm not sure it would again. I lived in Kansas City for 9 years before coming back to MI...hockey was very unkown there. The only pro teams that people seemed to know about were the Red Wings, Blues, Stars, and Avs. The Kansas City Blades folded due to poor attendance. So I doubt a pro franchise would survive.
