VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Too bad they didnt really out wing us, we were just recovering from the ass raping that the refs gave us in Anaheim... That's not an excuse. The reality is we didn't show up. We've played tired before, and we've played after bad reffing before, it shouldn't have this big f an effect. San Jose has always been a good team that couldn't finish. Now, with McLellan at the helm, they can finish. We just need to step it up against them, because they DO play a style similar to what we used to play. Of course, we don't play puck possession or defense this year, so who knows. Of course, we don't play puck possession or defense this year, so who knows. That's a hell of a big assumption. Though Todd McLellan may be a very good assistant coach he has never been a head coach in the NHL. To assume that he being a rookie coach is going to know enough to lead the perennial 2nd round losers to the Stanley Cup is well...a pretty big assumption. Secondly, the Sharks do not have the same level of talent or depth that the Wings have. Not even close. They beat us because they were well rested and at home and we were physically and mentally tired. Not an excuse - just a fact.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 2, 2008 They play the puck possesion game very well, I'll give them that. Having a rejuvenated Patrick Marleau helps as well. If we dont have our s*** together by the All-Star break, I could very easily see the Sharks being 1st overall. Only problem is Nabakov cant win the big game, and until he proves he can, the Sharks wont do anything in the playoffs.
