Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 17, 2008 Strickland is a ******* tool. This is the guy that said the Red Wings were going to internally implode in November 2006. He dont know s***. I do think Hossa is going to go, but not because he wants to play with Gaborik, because he cant afford to keep him. Gaborik is a RW, Hossa is a RW for the record anyways. vol865 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2008 I wonder if Hossa has seen video of Dom's flip of Gaborik? That was an instant classic in my book.

I'm in full agreement with you big_D. I would love to keep Hossa but i really think that we need to bring up the young guns and see what they are able to do in the NHL. Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 15, 2008 Marian may leave after this year but I can tell you that it's not in a package deal with Gaborik. I asked him myself and he laughed at the idea.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 27, 2008 I don't want Hossa to leave. He brings a lot to the team, and he is one of my favorite players. I'd also like the Wings to trade Lebda for Chara, Sammy for Ovy, Drapes for Malkin, and Conks for Lundqvist.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 27, 2008 I'd also like the Wings to trade Lebda for Chara, Sammy for Ovy, Drapes for Malkin, and Conks for Lundqvist. Scratch the 3rd one, Kopecky for Thornton instead
Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2009 Not that I ever put too much weight into what these hockeybloggers put out in the first place, but I never listen to a thing Strickland has to say after he suggested that the Wings locker room was going to "implode" by Christmas time in 2006. You know, because the Wings players didn't respect him... In case anyone forgot it, here it is in all it's idiotic glory... Strickland's a Blues sappy anyways. Of course he's going to hope for (and report) anything that might hurt the Wings chances. Um, is that guy on crack? One of Detroit's newspapers did a full story on how much the players love playing for this coaching staff and franchise. This guy really needs to get himself checked into a mental home. I'd get rid of Lilja before anyone else.. and I definitely wouldn't want Malkin on the team. Sammuelson is having a really good run this year.

Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 i would not y would he leave the best franchise in the last 20 years and maybe go to the retarted pens its not going to happen He only came to Detroit to win the Cup. If he doesn't, you can bet your bottom dollar he'll go to a team that'll pay him $9m a season. We won't. He may be back - but I highly doubt he will be. Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2009 wel eather way i hope he does stay with detroit I do too. But if he's going to ask for $9m a season from us, I'd rather let him walk than to lose cap space like that.
Doogs 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 I do too. But if he's going to ask for $9m a season from us, I'd rather let him walk than to lose cap space like that. I have no idea how you all take info coming from Eklund, and I am not sure where I stand with it... but tonight I asked him what he has heard about Detrioit and who they were going to sign between Hossa and Fanzen, and he said neither?!?!?!? I didn't get that. Why would they lose both? Are they that tight to the cap?

I'm not saying he does. I would imagine that their cap is still pretty flexible since we haven't signed all the players for sure, yet. I'm certain, though, that the Wings would be more willing to lose Hossa than Franzen. And both sounds a tad out there - but we'll see how that plays out. I was just curious what was being said on the signings front. I hear Z my be close, but I also see that you all are sort of where we were last season. As far as my knowledge goes, Holland and Z have spoken about Hank staying for his entire NHL career with Detroit. Not sure if it'll happen - but it's on the table. I wouldn't be too sad to see Hossa go. He's a great goal scorer.. but he hasn't really found his niche with our team. He's not as much of a contributer as Franzen or Datsyuk are. Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2009 He's second behind Datsyuk for total points and is the top goal scorer for the team - hasn't found his niche - WTF? Being a great goal scorer doesn't mean you've meshed with the team. Most people agree with me on this. You play with a particular team and you learn their strengths and weaknesses and where to place yourself on the ice to make up for it. Datsyuk & Franzen have both been around a lot longer so they're better attuned to the players. Hossa, while he does score a lot of goals, isn't at the point where he's fit in entirely with our team. For what he's worth, he should be getting at least one point per game. Some games are better than others. Some games, he goes out and really does great. Other games, he doesn't do nearly as well.. and you can visibly see him struggling to find his spot with the team. Every player - at the beginning - is that way. He hasn't gotten out of it yet. Gotten better? Sure. Gotten out of it? No.

Gotten better? Sure. Gotten out of it? No. I agree that something just isn't there with Hossa. While he's partly responsible for his part, I think some of the Wings contribute to this as well. Z is my favorite player, so I tend to really watch what he does out there. On numerous occasions I've seen him have the opportunity to start a give and go with Hossa; only he doesn't make the first pass and just takes it himself. He just doesn't seem to be on his list of "great chemistry," which is understandable a little bit when you consider that Hossa more often than not plays with Datsyuk.
