Manchester are in town to take on the Griffins who snapped their four game losing streak with a 5-4 OT victory at the hands of Iowa. The Monarchs are the NHL affiliate of the LA Kings and have highly rated former 1st round draft pick Trevor Lewis as well as the small but highly skilled Justin Azevedo, a former teammate of Jakub Kindl. 2008 2nd round pick Vyacheslav Vojnov has also been impressing with 7 points thus far.

The Griffins have lost veteran Landon Wilson to the Dallas Stars and his leadership and scoring prowess will be missed. Evan McGrath has jumped at the chance at seeing more minutes and has 4 points in 2 games. Ville Leino is currently on a 12 game scoreless streak, but still leads the team in points. Jan Mursak is once again likely to be a healthy scratch as is rookie defender Sergei Kolosov.

Probable line-up:

Haydar - Helm - Leino
Ritola - Abdelkader - Emmerton
Lemieux - McGrath - Gelech
Downey - Oulahen - Tardif

Ericsson - Pyett
Kindl - Galvin
Stafford - Jozsa

Larsson
Howard

Team Leaders:

Goals: Abdelkader, Hayder, Wilson (8) Oulahen (6)
Assists: Leino (15), Helm (13)
Points: Leino (19), Helm (18)
Penalty Minutes: Wilson (37), Abdelkader (31)

Notes:

• Jonathan Ericsson should be back in the line-up after being scratched in the last game due to the flu.
• Darren Helm’s 7 game point streak came to an end against Iowa.
• Rookie Daniel Larsson has more impressive GAA and S% numbers than 4th year pro Jimmy Howard.

Atherton has been sent down, and Gelech has been recalled by the Wings (they are going to ship him to Rochester I guess).

It's pretty incredible the amount of depth this team has on both offence and defence, it's a wonder we're not better placed than we are to be honest. It seems we can't go two games with the same line-up and I guess it doesn't ever allow us to get settled. Hopefully towards the end of the season we have a more settled line-up and Mursak is in it!

I'm assuming the lines look a little something like this:

Leino - Hayder - Emmerton

Ritola - Abdelkader - Pare

Tardif - McGrath - McCarty

Downey - Gagnon - Oulahen

Ericsson - Jozsa

Kindl - Galvin

Stafford - Kolosov

Griffins up 1-0 after 1 period: Haydar, (9) (Leino, Emmerton), 4:18

Howard 7 saves on 7 shots.

Well here's one man's opinion on the game.

First of all, the team played great in spurts. We absolutely kicked butt in the 5-on-3, with Howard able to see everything and our guys keeping them to the outside. Gagnon then gets out of the box, he knocks the pass down and puts it in. The place went crazy. I'm sick of this team only able to get 1 point out of their games. They can dominate if they played the whole time, and got a lucky bounce. These 1 point games aren't getting us closer to the other teams ahead of us.

Ritola had a really nice game, along with Leino. They were making things happen, and getting back defensively.

Kindl and Ericsson must have had good nights, cause I didnt notice anything real bad from either of them. They used the boards to clear pucks, and played pretty solid.

Abdelkader didn't hit quite as many people (or as hard) as normal, but he still had a decent game. He almost put one in during the third, but deflected it just wide. He needs to crash the net more, and deflect everything. He is REALLY good at doing that, so why not try it more often?

This ref called a horribly biased game. Everything we did was a penalty, but they could do nothing wrong. It was just ridiculous, especially the 5-on-3 call.
