Final game at Windsor Arena - Thursday Dec 4

So the Barn is closing... I picked up 4 tickets today, they are pretty much sold out at this point. If you havent been there, this place is gorgeous as far as old hockey arenas go... it was built in 1924. I got the chance to play there last year, it was my first time being inside. Shame I had to wait until their last game ever to go watch my first game... but better late than never I guess. It was tough to see the Knights leave the Ice House in London, as It will be really tough to see the Wings depart from the Joe someday. the OHL arena guide has a nice writeup about the old Barn, I can't wait to get rowdy and see how loud this place can get one last time.

It is about time that they upgrade to a new arena. Where did they build the new arena anyhow? When i was still in Windsor there were talks of it being built near the race track.

London has a great new arena, great for the team and great for all the events they are now able to bring in town.

I was there last year for the final playoff game there where they lost to effig Sting in OT....

Supposedly i have tickets for the game because my friend bought some... but i have yet to hear from her.

I am too lazy to look it up right now, who are the Spits Playing? it was fun watching the Whalers beat them down last wednesday

I can't even believe it.

I've lived in Windsor my whole life, been swearing to myself to go to a game forever and here's the last chance I'm gonna get.

Well I wanna see this legendary arena where our Wings used to play back in '25...

Too bad I'm going to the Wings game December 4th

Possibly something I'm going to regret forever... but I will be sure to go to the home opener at WFCU.

I'm making my first trip to Windsor Friday, might stop by the rink and just check it out.

Sorry buddy, I don't think you can just stop by and check it out. I think it's already sold out. I'll miss the barn... I played so much hockey there, watched so many games. It's alright though, it's not getting torn down since it is a historical landmark, instead, the U of W will be playing games there.

I'm going to soooo many games at the WFCU Arena though, I live right near there.

Id reccomend this to any hockey fan. Its such an intimidating place, and walking from the tiny concourse into ice level is awesome. Similar to the feel of walking out into the field area at Tiger Stadium, or going through the curtains at the Joe.

Im pretty excited to see this years Spitfires team, they are currently 22-2-0-0, and are #1 in the CHL polls.

Wow, I almost thought they were tearing Windsor Arena down. Its a historic landmark and should always stand. Its our team's first home, even before the Olympia (which shouldn't have been torn down). I've been to a couple Spits games there, and its a great rink.

and for anyone going to the game... (from windsor's website)

Fans are encouraged to come to the game early as the Beach Bar and Grill and Molson's will host a beer tent in the Water World parking lot from 5 - 11 p.m.

Attending fans will also have the opportunity to watch a special video, featuring Spitfire highlights from the team's history Windsor Arena as part of the pre-game ceremonies. Following the conclusion of the game, people are encouraged to stay in their seats as the team will be taking down all Spitfire banners from the rafters in a special post-game ceremony. The team will also be giving away a set of gameworn jerseys to lucky Spitfire season ticket holders selected by way of a ticket draw at the game. The winning season ticket holders will be invited on the ice to pickup of their jerseys as part of the post-game proceedings.

Yeah, thats what I meant. I thought maybe I'd stop in and get a Spitfires shirt or something like that. Does anyone know if the Perani's in Windsor is anywhere near the size of the one in Livonia?

I've been to both, and no... I mean the Perani's in Windsor is big if you include the back section which just has strictly hockey equipment, but the part for casual shopping is one room in the first part of the store.

And for who asked... The new arena is located completely opposite of the race track actually, in east Windsor... Forest Glade, right near Tecumseh.

Well that was a fun night... the place was packed. They started by showing a video and a few short speeches, the ceremony didnt drag on too long which was good. Good game, McCollum was VERY solid, im assuming there were a few Wings scouts in the building. Oh and everyone should listen to beeRyce... both Ellis and Hall are amazing hockey players, they will be cutting up the NHL very soon. Closing ceremonies had them taking the banner's down and a jersey presentation. Can't wait to get over to the new building, It looks pretty nice.
