CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and now Mark Tiexera... added to the over 100 million they spent on A-Rod. Before they sign Tiexera, the yankees have a 207 million dollar payroll... that is 70 million over the next closest team. This team will ruin baseball. Sell... timothy1997 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2008 should have a poll question to this. Anyway, buy. Angels are not that good anymore without K-Rod and Teixeria. Tampa is a fluke last year and they will not be as good next year. Red Sox are the biggest challenge left and personally, I dont see the Red Sox the same this year without Man-Ram. Plus the Red Sox have holes on starting pitching towards the end of the rotation after Beckett and Dice K. Oh and the Yanks are still in the market for Man-Ram. This has a lot to do with the fact that they have a new stadium with much more revenue. It's hard to say that they didnt try to buy a championship in years past. Talent alone doesn't win championships. CC Sabathia is horrible against Boston and chokes in the playoffs, besides he is pretty much replacing Mussina who won 20 games last season so that is a wash. AJ Burnett is injury prone and his best season came last year which ironically enough was his contract year. He's got loads of talent but can't seem to reach his full potential. I don't see them beating out BOTH Boston and Tampa Bay so they may get a wildcard. These are the same old Yankees who load up on guys like Abreu, Giambi, A-rod, etc and don't get past the second round.
