Your (Homer) Statements Here

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Thought it'd be interesting to start a thread where they simple state any opinions they have on the Wings players or such, particularly statements that could be perceived as homerism (even if that isn't the case). I'll go first.

Osgood should not only make the HOF, but be considered as a top 20 goalie all-time.

Datsyuk is currently the best forward in the league.

Datsyuk is better than Zetterberg, but only a little.

Zetterberg and Hossa is too close to call.

Lidstrom will be a Norris finalist (again) if his current level of play continues.

Hudler has the potential to be a first line player if his physique continues to develop.

(Thanks to egroen for reminding me of these)

Hasek is the greatest goaltender of all-time.

Chelios is the greatest American player of all-time.

Lidstrom is the greatest Swede of all-time.

Howe may very well be better than Gretzky for best hockey player of all-time.

Probert is the greatest enforcer of all-time.

(/end copy-paste)

I will edit my list as needed.

+1

Lidstrom is the greatest Swede of all-time.

I'll go further and say Lidstom is the greatest European of all time, and 2nd only to Bobby Orr

Kopecky falls down too much

Hossa is better than I thought

Osgood looks lost (not so lost lately)

Conklin reminds me of Osgood with more skill (no offense to Osgood... just an opinion)

Datsyuk makes professional hockey players look like complete idiots... and I like it

Cleary annoys me for some reason (reminds me of LaPointe)

McCarty needs to go away once and for all

I like Lilja

Bears repeating... I like Lilja

Franzen has more skill than Homer... but I don't think Franzen will ever be as good as Homer at screening the goalie and getting garbage goals

Babcock is an amazing coach

Maltby and Draper are obviously winding down (Drapes still owns in the faceoff circle though)

If Datsyuk continues to dominate like he has (and gain national attention), I fear Zetterberg may become a head case

Chelios is dangerously close to overstaying his welcome

Still waiting for a string of open ice hits from Little Nicky

I hate VS. and their overrated poster boy

I still miss Federov... and Larionov... and Kozlov... and Fetisov... and especially Vladdy :crybaby:

Lidstrom is the best D-man ever. Bobby Orr is a distant second.

Franzen is one of the most underrated players in the league.

Conklin was a steal for 750,000

The Grind Line needs to hang em up for good.

Lilja, Sammy, are excellent players of the game.

The best forward in the league is Datsyuk.

I think you're a little too late for that one.If someone would of told you or me for that matter when Cheli was first traded here that he would be here for another 10 years I would of escorted you to the insane asylum.

No doubt. I like what Chelios brings to the team in terms of experience and leadership though. Dudes a warrrior.

I'll put the lines of Howe-Delvecchio-Lindsay and Howe-Abel-Lindsay against any three in the history of the game.

Fischer may play again. My wife may cry if this occurs.

Osgood is top-20 all time and should be in the Hall.

The Wings are a lot more fun to watch than the other teams because of their puck possession style, their stretch passes from D, their general high skill level, their intense back checking, and their original six history.

In the NHL, we have high end qualities in terms of...

Best defenseman - Lidstrom

Best coach - Babcock

Best work ethic - Cleary

Best GM

Best scouting staff

Best ownership

Best passer - Datsyuk

Best two way forwards - Datsyuk and Zetterberg

Quickest shot release - Hossa (Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, and Heatley all may have more lethal wrist shots, but Hossa gets his off the quickest)

Best puck possession team

Two of the best ten all time players - Howe and Yzerman

I can't think of more right now, but there is.

Hasek is hated by so many. When Roy and Brodeur were playing in the 90's in their primes, who won all those Vezina's? Sure Roy had more wins, but look at Hasek's career GAA or Save%, insane. Plus what he did at the 98 Olympics. No goalie has ever had a better tournament in the history of all hockey. Hasek is for sure top 3, and for sure the most exciting goalie of all time.

When i think of what the soul of a hockey player looks like;

i think of this

I'm man enough to say, i tear up everytime i do.

I defy you to find a player that embodies what hockey is more than Steve Yzerman.

There were players who had more skill, bigger players, faster players

No one ever had more heart.

People talk about the "eyes" of Maurice Richard, how they burned like fire

Look in Steve Yzerman's eyes, and you'll see they burn "win".
