Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 I don't care if it is hokey, but Steve Yzerman can do no wrong to me. He could run over my dog and then burn my house down and I'd just thank him for stopping by.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 Steve Yzerman is the only player to ever score 150 points and get a first place vote for the Selke in the same season. Ever. He's also the only player to ever score 150 points in a season and win the Selke in his career. And he's one of only three players to play in he All-Star game before his 19th birthday; however he was the only one to do so as an All-Star. The other two were rookies on the defending champs. Kira 451 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) Hasek is hated by so many. When Roy and Brodeur were playing in the 90's in their primes, who won all those Vezina's? Sure Roy had more wins, but look at Hasek's career GAA or Save%, insane. Plus what he did at the 98 Olympics. No goalie has ever had a better tournament in the history of all hockey. Hasek is for sure top 3, and for sure the most exciting goalie of all time. Boy, do I know someone who will love you for these words. Pavel Datsyuk can make even my non-hockey loving husband sit up and take notice. And believe me when I tell you, that takes some doing. As of today, he's 25 points away from 500 career points. I know guys who have played twice as long as he has and they're not even close to that figure. Pretty impressive. He's also only one of four Wings who led the team in scoring for three years in a row or more, the others being Gordie, Alex and Stevie Y. Damned good company to be keeping. My parents and I have been to two Wings games at the Joe now and even they recognized Datsyuk as being an absolute monster. They also watched the entire WCF and SCF (an impressive feat considering neither of them have ever been interested in NHL hockey). so yeah, my homer statement Going back the last six weeks, Pavel Datsyuk has been the best player in the National Hockey League in that time. Statts 4 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 I don't care if it is hokey, but Steve Yzerman can do no wrong to me. He could run over my dog and then burn my house down and I'd just thank him for stopping by. I think thats the funniest/ truest post I have seen. "Sorry Mr. Yzerman, my dog seemed to have gotten some blood on your bumper... let me wipe that off for you." "ohh, the house? I was thinking about renovating anyway, don't worry about it." staying on topic...Yzerman is the most humble player ever.

The Secret 304 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 I miss Stevie... I grew up watching him and there will never be another like him. He'll always the MVP in my book. I don't think there has ever been a player thats done more or been more valuable to a team then our Captain! The Illitch family are the greatest owners in the NHL and are the biggest reason for the success and class of our team.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 I think thats the funniest/ truest post I have seen. "Sorry Mr. Yzerman, my dog seemed to have gotten some blood on your bumper... let me wipe that off for you." "ohh, the house? I was thinking about renovating anyway, don't worry about it." This was about a decade ago, but a friend joked with me that Red Wings fans must think Yzerman is God. I told her she wasn't far off.

wingnut40 176 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) ^ True statement is true. Stevie is the greatest person to ever live. Nick is the best defensman ever... Lilja is the sexiest NHL player, he's improved his play greatly, and his playoff beard is so fricking BA!! Stuart and Lebda have epic failed on the blue line this season. Ozzie needs to get out of this funk he's in. Hossa is one of the strongest players on the puck. Edited January 18, 2009 by wingnut40

Mikeal 60 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Giordano's, Geno's East and Leona's in Chicago all make infinitely better pizza. Geno's East wins. But I'm not in Chicago anymore so =/
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) Hudler has one of the best saucer passes in the NHL. It's taken me a long time to warm to the guy, but his hockey instincts are exceptional. He always seem to know which fake is going to work, when he should just rip a slapshot instead of finessing it. Why can't he be half a foot taller and 50 lbs heavier?! If Dats focused on developing it the way he has his hitting and defensive play, in a season or two his (already good) wrist shot will rival Ovechkin's. Zetterberg is one of the biggest puck hounds in the league. He pursues that thing like it's made of bacon and he's Homer Simpson. Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Detroit has the league's best record in games they don't care about playing: 29-8-6 (San Jose Dec. 18 and Chicago back-to-back excluded).
Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Detroit will repeat as champions Franzen is a 50 goal scorer in this league Datsyuk and Zetterberg are the best two way players in the game today Detroit has the best offense in the league Detroit has the best defense in the league Detroit's goaltending is underrated Steve Yzerman is the greatest all round hockey player of all time Datsyuk has the best hands in the league Lidstrom is still the best defenseman in the league Kronwall will replace Lidstrom once he retires Hudler will get 100 points Detroit will not lose another game all season, including the playoffs The numbers 24, 33, 30, 5, 91, 14, 25, 18 should all be retired and go into the hall of fame Osgood is one of the top 5 goalies of all time Detroit is just giving San Jose a sense of false confidence Samuelsson has a very accurate shot Lilja is the best defenseman in the league (next to Lidstrom) Mike Babcock is the best coach in the league Scotty Bowman is the greatest goalie of all time Colorado will never beat Detroit in a meaningful game and we will never lose that old rivalry
NorthDakotaWingsFan 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Hasek, no matter how much I tried to love the guy, always SCARED THE CRAP out of me. Osgood will always be my favorite Wings goalie, but Konks is growing on me. I desperately cling to the hope that McCarty will play as he used to and miss the old days (grind line). When Datsyuk and Zetterberg work their magic and embarrass opposing teams it makes me laugh. Lilia makes me think Hasek thoughts. Hudler is one of the smallest in person players I have ever seen, and is still amazing.

Kira 451 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Jiri Fischer is one of the most kind hearted people I know of. I wish I could have met him last year at camp. Maybe this year. Andreas Lilja is better looking in person than people give him credit for. All of the guys are very nice, very generous with fans, and incredibly polite.
