nogoldfx60 1 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 I don't know if anyone has seen this from The Hockey News website. It's a unique style of ranking offensive performance, updated weekly. I thought it was pretty interesting. Here's the link to this weeks: http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/2235...ics-Jan-13.html

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted January 14, 2009 Despite the fact that Datsyuk is ranked third here, its a pretty ridiculous formula. For starters, a goal is worth more than an assist? How many times have we seen Pavel Datsyuk or Henrik Zetterberg or Nick Lidstrom do all the work to set up a guy for the easy in. Secondly, shoot-out goals count as much as game-time goals. And if you're just counting goals, you'd have to take a look at whose setting these guys up for the goal. That said, I do think its interesting that most of the players on this list are their teams best offensive player.
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted January 14, 2009 I really like that statistical system, really interesting at the very least. Does go to show how players really impact a game when you take into consideration helping the team win versus a normal stat padding assist on the 7th goal in a blow out. Not saying this is better than the average G=A, G+A=Pts system, its just... different.
