bccarlso 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 A friend told me that the referee that disallowed last night's goal vs. the Stars, and the goal in last year's playoffs (Dan O'Halloran I think?) was shot and seriously injured in Detroit a while ago, and that could be a cause for some kind of bias against the Wings. I generally don't believe referees ever have it out for any one team, but I just want to find out if this is true or not, done some search but have come up with nothing. Anyone heard or know about this?

Anyone heard or know about this? It is true that he was shot in Detroit, back in the 80s. He also lives in Detroit. I don't know if the guy has a bias or not, I'm not one for conspiracy theories. But every time the guy refs a Wings game crazy s*** goes down, usually a disallowed goal, or just really one-sided or awkward officiating. I certainly believe that if nothing else, he habitually makes reputation calls and should never ref an NHL game again.
bccarlso 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Yeah, was able to dig some stuff up: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2008...tory?id=3420092 and this thread with some of his bad calls: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...=55392&st=0 He just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Who knows if the Wings woulda won last night if that goal was allowed.
Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 I don't think they deserved to with their play. That doesn't make that no-goal.. or his officiating of that game/other Wings games in general any less trashy.
