The Grand Rapids Griffins hit the road to take on the Quad City Flames. The Flames have lost their past two games while the Griffins have earnt at least a point from their past 7 games going 5-1-1. The Griffins are 3 points behind Division leading Manitoba but have 3 games in hand. Tonight's game is a big oppertunity to gain some ground.

The underrated Ryan Oulahen has 3 goals in the past 2 games, as does Sergie Kolosov. Jan Mursak is finally starting to gain some momentum as he has played 6 consecutive games. He had an assist in the last game. Daniel Larsson started the Griffins last game and managed to get the win despite a relatively unimpressive showing. Jimmy Howard is expected to start tonight and he'll look to continue his impressive run of form.

Possible line-up:

Oulahen - Abdelkader - Haydar
Lemieux - Pare - McGrath
Ritola - Tardif - Mursak
Emmerton - Gagnon - Downey

Kindl - Galvin
Kolosov - Stafford
Jozsa - Pyett

Howard
Larsson

Team Leaders:

Goals: Haydar (16) Ritola, Pare (15)
Assists: Leino (26), Haydar (23)
Points: Haydar (39) Leino (37)
Penalty Minutes: Downey (75), Abdelkader (59)

Notes:

• Rookie defenceman Sergie Kolosov has 3 goals in his past 2 games.
• Justin Abdelkader is back in the line-up after returning from his stint with the Wings.
• The Griffins are the sole team in the league to have 10 or fewer regulation losses.

I'll be in Detroit so I'll miss this one....but good luck to the boys. Here's hoping for a dominant effort, that includes more goals than the last 2 contests with this team...combined.

hey guys, i don't post here a lot, but am a QC season ticket holder. i always love when GR comes to town. i will try my best to give some opinions of the game and if i get any good pictures will post them. i did want to post this though. for a couple other message boards i am on, i create a GDT with lots of stats. since its GR today, thought i would post it here for you as well.

Well, they blew a 2-0 lead after the first, but they got a late goal in the third by Lemieux to win 3-2.

Good win for a team with a little roster reshuffling going on.

Glad to see other guys stepping up.

Mike Walsh was a guy signed on a PTO. He actually played 14 games for us back in 06-07. Notre Dame grad.

He has been playing in Utah for the Grizzlies (11G, 18A = 29PTS -- 41GP)

Jimmy Howard had 44 saves.... Nice!!!

just got back from the game. was the typical QC game. we get tons of shots, but not a lot of good scoring chances. we give up a small number of shots but get bad goaltending and end up losing.

really the only guys i was keeping a close eye on were kindl and abdelkader. abdelkader took a fairly rough hit along the boards by carsen germyn. he actually looked good in the defensive zone. i sit in the corner on the glass at the end GR only shoots at once, so i got to see less of him in the offensive end. kindl looked solid, but nothing stuck out either way. howard looked strong. last year he got shelled both games in QC and larsson played the previous one this year, so its the first time i have seen him play well.

i was sad to miss out on leino, ritiola, ericsson, and helm, but thats life i guess. wish there were more people to report on. downey looked ok. he played a lot with abdelkader.

Thanks for the recap mate, I always enjoy reading reviews from people who have attended the game.

Yeah it's disappointing so many of our top prospects had to miss the game. Good to hear Kindl played well and the fact that he didn't really stand out is probably more of a good thing. ;) And he had an assist which is good because he was pointless in 4 straight coming into today.

Good character-building win considering the Griffins were missing Helm, Leino, Ericsson, Ritola and Tardif. Going into the last third of the season, they need to keep up their confidence that they can scrape out a win even without key players. Good effort from the veterans Garrett Stafford and Darren Haydar to keep the team rolling.
