Red Wings' Darren McCarty back on the ice

Good news that he is healthy. I don't know that he will crack the lineup much unless there are injuries, but at least we will have someone who knows how to defend his teammates if we need him. The bad news in everyone coming back from injuries though is that Leino will probably be sent back down. He has impressed me thus far. Oh well! He will impress in camp and hopefully be on the team next year.

I guess the Wings can keep Stuart on LTIR after Sunday, otherwise they would have to send Helm amd Leino back down. I wonder why they havent put Homer on it yet?

I'm pretty sure it can be retroactive, so the Wings can still save cap space if he goes on it, even if he isnt on LTIR yet.

First of all this is my first post...

Mac brings an incredible energy to the lockeroom and to the ice. He loves the game not the $$. Not many players in this league can say that. The team will need him when playoffs get here and the opposing team thinks that the only way to beat us is by physically hurting us.

Welcome Bama,

McCarty is a great guy for the locker, its true but we really have plenty of other great locker room individuals. I will always remember Mac and what he has done but he isn't even half of the player he once was and he is so injury prone. He may be one of our only players that will drop the gloves but i don't feel his presence will intimidate nor deter anyone from pushing any of our players around. Maybe if we could combine bits and pieces of Mac and Downey we could have a legit player but as it is I don't see much benefit from having Mac on the team anymore. His best years are way behind him and thats just life unfortunately. I think we fans a starved for a player like the Mac of old.

McCarty is done....he was a warrior....WAS hes only taking up space that someone who actually contributes would be in. see Leino, Helm, Ericsson....By the way, welcome Bama !

Well yeah I am seeing as I'll be 27 in June, but I don't see what that has to do anything. I want drama.

Some stat in one of the fight threads the other day showed fans who most want to see fighting in hockey were females ages 18-35. Represent girl!

edit: someone beat me to it.

I'm just grateful I don't have to make the decision whether or not Mac stays or goes. I love Mac and what he's done for the team and Deetroit. I hope he rehabs well and gets back to what he loves doing best. Playing for the Red Wings. I wish him nothing but the best because he's such a great Deetroit icon.
