I dont see D Mac cracking the lineup he might get 1 game up here put that'll be more of a thing for the fans to see him play one last time

i do think we need a Roberts or Neil type guy we will probably need some grit b/c we will have a chance of seeing Cal, SJ, Ana, or Dal in the playoffs and Neil would be nice to keep guys in line, Roberts wouldnt add as much grit as neil but he'd give the wings an old guy to win the cup for kinda like drake last year

get real, there is no room to add somebody, on the contrary. And after Bertuzzi fiasco Holland is not ready to give away picks for half year rental.

Darren Freaking McCarty.....

I love this guy, love what he's done for the team, but what do you do with a guy that can't score, can't hit, and can't fight anymore? But the crowd, myself included, does love him.

dude he just started playing last year and ur talking about life after hockey? yea he is getting old but i see him playing for a few more years. what do u have to say about chelios?

I think Chelios is great and can still contribute. Unfortunately for Cheli is that we have some youngin's that are ready and need to play and that may make Chelios expendable for next year. I for one wish we could keep Chelios around.

McCarty on the other hand is way too injury prone, which to me is a wasted roster spot for a younger, healthier option. Mac has the heart of a lion but he's lost a few steps, can barely hold his own in a tussle and is a fraction of the player he once was. I love Mac but whats best for the team comes first IMO.

Hey we women over 35 love a good hockey fight too :hehe:

You got that right! This old hag loves herself a good tussle.

I think we're the "mom age". Nobody better mess with our boys, and if they do, they need to be taught a lesson.

Mac did that with Claudette, and I'm eternally grateful. I do like the idea someone had of player-coach in GR when his time with the Wings is done. Imagine guys coming up that have been trained to actually drop the gloves!

But whatever the future holds for Mac, no matter what he does or where he plays, God love him, I wish him the best.

Ok, now THAT made me laugh!

Mac is an awesome guy! I would love to see him come back and be his butt-kicking self. Do I think it's possible? Yes. Is it likely? Unfortunately, I don't think so. But like others have said, I wish him nothing but the best no matter what!

Comparing Chelios to McCarty ends at... well... age.

Detroit LOVES McCarty and I honestly believe that's one of the only reasons we keep him around. He doesn't produce anymore. Whether that's because he isn't on the ice enough or because he's just getting old - I can't tell you. But having McCarty in the line up doesn't do anything for this team the way it did in the 90s. (Better? :))

Nice that McCarty's coming back..............but hopefully its to the Griffins. Unfortunately, his NHL days are over.

Agreed. He is a AHL player at best.
