He sure started off the season poorly. Played in just one of five games and has a 5.06 GAA.

Tootoo does NOT belong on this team. He is classless and I would rather see the Wings be bad than classless. I feel the same way about Bertuzzi as well, but he at least CAN make the team better. With Tootoo the team becomes worse and in danger of being classless. Would you have liked Claude on the team? Or Roy? No. So why would you be okay with that POS.

He's now 2-1 and his save % and GAA are improving.

I really, really rate this kid.

For all I care Howard can be moved on at seasons end, don't see him in our future plans. I do with this kid.

This is the worst call I've ever made.

Anyway, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO MCCOLLUM?!!!

Is he eligible for another AHL season after this one?? Because if this is his last year, I highly doubt he'll be in our system next year.

Would he be the biggest bust in recent history?

Bump, for optimism:

Tom McCollum, 2011/12 Griffins stats so far.

GP: 9
W: 6
L: 3
GAA: 2.78
SV/%: 0.909

Greatly improving numbers.

Despite his troubles, thus far, I still do really like McCollum.

But does anyone else wish Daniel Larsson was still around?

Well, that ship has sailed. I was hoping and expecting more from McCollum. He will not be resigned

The crazy little bugger is on fire so far this year.

 He's 6 - 0 with a GAA  2.25  and a SV% 0.922

Not getting an NHL contract and being just a Griffin seems to have lit a fire under him.

Good to see.

I hope he continues to play that well and prove myself and others wrong for calling him a bust

I think the pressure is off him right now.  He really is playing loose, and his performance is a night and day difference over where he was before Mrazek came in and earned the #1 spot.  Maybe he matured and he is becoming the goalie everyone thought he would be.  Either way, I am glad to see him do well.

Goal tending is very different  than skating, and much more selective in the nhl. He's barely proving he's capable of minor play at this point, don't hold ur breath.

If it took not getting an entry level contract to get him to start caring, hell probably be a career backup ahl-er, maybe even echl-er.
Unless he sustains solid play for more than a season.

McCollum quietly putting together a come-back season and starting to look like his 1st round self

.927% and 2.19 GAA in 31 games for Grand Rapids this season

He recently turned 24. If I'm the Wings I would avoid drafting a goalie this year and just re-sign Tom.

Howard, Gustavsson, Mrazek, McCollum, Coreau, Paterson, is a pretty good group
