RedSea 31 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Major? No. 4th line addition? Possibly (Neil). 3rd line D? Possibly but doubtful.

Rice 42 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Major moves? No. A tweak here and there is all they need if anything.
Wombat 26 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Absolutely not. Nothing major is needed. This team is really good... they might need a small tweak but nothing major by a longshot.
DuckSoup13 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 With no salary cap in the playoffs, we will be just fine with the guys we have. Leino and Helm will play and Ericsson maybe too. No need to make a move
MotorCityMadness 388 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 a minor deal or two to shore up a few of the problem areas, but nothing more than that

Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Hard to say. Goal-tending is our most immediate concern. Osgood isn't playing as well as Conklin at the moment. If the team plays solid playoff defense then we could easily ride Conklin deep into the playoffs. Trading for a top-flight goalie would cost us something like Filppula, Ericsson, and a first round pick, and when I look at the teams out of the playoff hunt there's no one who jumps out at me and says "Great Playoff Goalie!" The rumors about acquiring another defenseman seems dumb. We already have too much depth on defense. I can't think of any reasonable trades that could give us more forward depth either. We're pretty well set throughout the line-up. All they need to do is start playing like they want to win.
jvxp 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Major? No. 4th line addition? Possibly (Neil). 3rd line D? Possibly but doubtful. Rumor Central: Sharks eyeing Ottawa's Neil TheFourthPeriod.com According to the Ottawa Sun, the San Jose Sharks are among the teams interested in Senators tough-guy Chris Neil. Neil is in the final year of his current contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1. The Senators have spoken to Neil's agent about a new contract, but it's believed he'll be moved before the March 4 trade deadline. The Sun claims the Detroit Red Wings are also interested in Neil. It's also believed the Sharks have shown an interest in Tampa Bay Lightning center Jeff Halpern.

boomer 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Major? No. 4th line addition? Possibly (Neil). 3rd line D? Possibly but doubtful.I could go for that in terms of Neil. However, if were not gonna get another goaltender, I do believe we need more than just a tweak with the defense. I would trade in a big way within our core to get a big name defenseman; then I'd feel better about going with Conklin, as I'm sure he would.
Mark B 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 I think we need to make some major moves in the net...Osgood is not going to do it ,I can't see us winning another cup with him in net.I don't know who we could get though, unless Holland could pull off some big trade even if it's just a rental player . Thats what I'am hoping for, for our playoff run.

Wombat 26 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) I don't see any advantage to making a major move on a team with this much talent already. Major moves are for teams that lack veteran experience and talent, both of which the Wings have in abundance. Edited February 23, 2009 by Wombat

Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 I'm not expecting any moves out of Holland - let alone anything major. If he were to make a move, I'd expect to get another defenseman to spark up the PK. But that's about it.
Carman 387 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Really hoping we get Neil. Other then that I hope we don't do anything else.

If were not getting another goaltender and Conklin is going to get the nod, then I have to disagree with you about our your contentions about the depth of defense for the playoffs. Are guys are great , but if that's going to be the case I think we have to bolster the D in a big way. To my mind were loaded with offense, we need a stay at home hitting D and I would trade for that workhorse type player big time.

Thats what I'am hoping for, for our playoff run. I'm totally with you but Holland's patterns unfortunately point to that not happening. Look he wants both Hossa and Franzen which I think is shortsighed. Hossa would be more than enough considering our offensive depth all around. Our defensive game needs some shoring up, and we got give some of our veterans on the D a break by adding some physical presence- especially if the goaltending situation remains as it.
