Esquire 324 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 haha, yea, we're just going to GR, about half the trip of Toronto and no passport required thanks! :beerbuddy: I think my next planned trip will have to be out to GR to see them play at home. I just saw the Griffins in action on Sunday against the Marlies and the result was great: 5-4 Griffins! Took a quick picture of the game's first star too. And, you don't need a passport to cross the border in to Canada, only a driver's license (or suitable photo ID) along with your birth certificate or proof of citizenship. Just thought I'd let you know, in case you do decide to make the trip up there one day. I'll be going to GR for that game as well though...great time up there at Van Andel. I've been to Toronto a few times... when was the last time you went there? The passport kicked in this year as far as I knew? where I'm coming from, it only takes me about 2 hrs 45 mins to GR, 4.5 hrs to Toronto... I'm a little further west than Detroit I'm looking forward to it, I've never been to Van Andel, I'm pretty stoked!

Not until June of this year, they keep postponning it all you need now is as they said, DL and Birth Certificate... they also have that id card you can get instead of a passport that allows access to Canada only. I have been to Windsor 4 times since jan1st and going back on the 12th (go Whalers!!)

Make sure you come to the game early if you are interested in receiving the Justin Abdelkader bobble head! First 2500 fans will receive the giveaway, and its likely to be a sellout or close to it. Sometimes you have to go into the front entrance to get the promotion - sometimes any of the entrances. Watch the Griffins website closer to the game. If you're looking for a good place to eat before the game, head to GP Sports in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. Its a nice sports bar with many screens and very reasonably priced food. Easy walk through the overhead walkways to the game if its cold or rainy. Another good alternative is The BOB. Its a refurbished old building diagonally across the street from the arena that has a handful of trendier restaurants and bars inside.

GROwl 5 Report post Posted March 22, 2009 So, what did you think? The boys played well last night - I really enjoyed the game. I'm just sad that there is only one home game left in the regular season. Its a $1 beer/$1 dog night on 4/10/09. It was announced last night there that are only a few remaining tickets left. The Stanley Cup will be in GR that day. There's a VIP viewing, season ticket holder viewing, and then a public viewing before/during the game. It will be on the ice before the start of the game. ladystanley 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Glad you had a great time!! I have lived in this area most all my life. And the Griffins are great entertainment, especially with the Friday night 'free beer and hot wings' section. They always get it going! Great pic of my boy Oulahen A friend of mine from Switzerland came up a couple of weeks ago and I took her to the arena. She couldn't believe that THAT was our minor league arena! She couldn't get enough pics to take back with her. I was so proud I will be at the Griffins Stanley night. I have to be there at like 3ish for our appt with Stanley. We will get 15 min, but I have no idea besides the other two I am going with, how many will be at that same time slot. But the stanley cup poster we got with the tix package was AWESOME!
