hankzet40 233 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 I see every game on TSN2 from that link. There's no chance game two will be on normal TSN when the Flames play that night. God damn it.
Hossa7.4 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 I have to admit the 1st round matchups in the East are a bit more compelling. Montreal vs. Boston and Pittsburgh vs. Phily especially. High skill teams that absolutely hate each other. The closest the West has is Anaheim vs. San Jose - two teams that are not too fond of each other at all. But Detroit does pack in the rating, no matter who they play, and Columbus will gett "Cinderella Story" headlines with their first win... as if. but VS is only set to show ONE game between Mont. and Bos, this is rediculous as this is a historically important matchup and a bitter rivalry going back generations. But then again in the new NHL history doesn't mean anything so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. so if you're in America outside of Michigan and without Center Ice and a Wings fan you're pretty much screwed. You'd think the league would give the defending champs a little more r-e-s-p-e-c-t

The Pens don't even have fans outside of their city, and yet all their games are televised. I guess the team that finished 2nd last season gets more respect than the team that won the Cup. The league needs to get over this Crosby obsession. Televising all of their games, and only a few from other more important series' is too much of a discrepancy. I hate Bettman and his cronies so much.

Flames at Blackhawks doesn't start until 7 p.m. and the Wings game is the early start. If they switch it to the Deuce so they can whack it to Phaneuf, they switch it to the Deuce. If you have Shaw you shouldn't have a problem. Back last year when they had that weird "TSN Alternate" it was so hit and miss what or when they would show games it was a complete mess. I'll take the Deuce over what they had last year.

If Pittsburgh goes out in the first round they will probably forget that hockey is still being played and instead put on reruns of their magical 2008 cup... oh wait. sixer 37 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 TSN2 is available on Bell Expressvu in HD for canucks. If you don't get it, it's your fault for being with Rogers because they suck!
wingscapsfan 1 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 games that are being shown on tsn2 will not be broadcasted on center ice.. i just recieved the email from center ice, so looks like people with rogers will be screwed.. i guess i will sign up for a day on that hockey streams site. has anyone used it before, and how is the quality of their hd feed? TheOwl 77 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 ^ Good lookin! Man I didn't check my bill, do people get charged the 30 something dollars for April for Center Ice? Knowing the NHL they'll probably charge me for May and June. Stupid bulls***.
DatsMyWings13 4 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 The fact that not all the games will be easily watchable for everyone with basic cable = epic fail on the leagues part. This is the playoffs!!!! How do they ever expect to be taken seriously when they can't find a way to televise all of their playoff games?

How do they ever expect to be taken seriously when they can't find a way to televise all of their playoff games? Especially from the league's most marketable and most famous team, not to mention the defending champs. How many of these other teams have such huge fanbases outside of their metro area? ryan91 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2009 For viewers in canada, games 1 and 5 will be shown on tsn2 as the calgary and chicago matchup will be on tsn at the same time. If you subsribe to rogers cable you will need to have nhl center ice as rogers is the lone cable provider not yet carrying tsn2. Any game that is shown on tsn2 will be available on nhl center ice because that channel is not considered basic cable.

I_Have_A_Job 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Versus seems to have no problem showing ALL of the Sharks vs. Ducks and ALL of the Blues vs. Canucks games...seems like they could have tried to air more than 1 game from the Wings series. I'd also prefer the games to be on Versus vs. Center Ice because Comcast doesn't offer Center Ice in HD, whereas all the games on Versus are HD here on the East Coast. Its easy to show ALL OF THE DUCKS AND SHARKS series because both teams are on the Westcoast and won't start til around 10 eastern.

Yeah, but you can't say the same about the Philadelphia/Pittsburgh series. Funny how there's five original 6 teams in the playoffs, and yet Pittsburgh is going to get more Versus games than all of them combined. That's Bettman and the NHL for you. No but the NHL wants to showcase the most well known player in the league with Crosby. Even though they should be pimping Ovechkin as the face of the NHL.... an ugly face, but still the face. Even though they should be pimping Ovechkin as the face of the NHL.... an ugly face, but still the face. It's one thing to showcase a guy, but it's another to serve him to us anally. They get all 7 games on Versus. Geez, the league could at least try to look unbiased here. They should be showcasing the most popular team and the defending champs (who beat Crosby in the Finals BTW). Like I've said all day, Pittsburgh doesn't have the kind of fan support outside their city as the Wings do. The Wings = ratings. Bettman should rot in hell for this. Pskov Wings Fan 71 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Versus thing sure bites. Comcast puts it into basic cable in my area. So to get it I would have to get a lot of crap I don't care to see and pay $60/month for the privilege. At least I will be able to see most of the Wings first round games on Center Ice. Too bad NHL online stuff also blacks out nationally televised games.

This is the part that bothers me, even a few people I work with who aren't hockey fans thought it was odd not to give some preferential air time to the defending champions. This is pretty standard in most sports.

I received an email from nhl center ice stating that any games that are televised on tsn2 will not eb on center ice, just like in the regular season... we are s*** out of luck Center Ice advertised they would carry rounds one and two of the POs - like they always have- part of the reason I bought it. Viewers in Canada may be blocked from that if it is on TSN, but I don't see how viewers in the US would be blocked since we do not get TSN anyways. I'm confused - I may try to call and find out but like other posters have said, I never get anyone that knows a damn thing about Center ICe....

This is pretty standard in most sports. The funny thing is that the league has not been shy in the past about showing lots of Wings games in the playoffs. Coming off a Cup win, I thought that we'd definitely get just about all the 1st round games televised. But I guess we're finding out more and more where the league's allegiances lie. I bet if the Pens were playing the Florida Panthers in the 1st round, the same thing would still happen. I'm just hoping for some good online streams right now.
