List of Playoff Slogans

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

With this years the beard is back, I got to thinking of all the playoff slogans over the years and was curious to know what the others have been like. I couldn't find a list of them anywhere and thought I would start a thread trying document as far back as we can go with playoff slogans for future reference.

We had ones such as

2009- The Beard is Back

2008- (Fire on Ice)?

2007- Ride the Red Wave

2006- (Get your red on) ??

2006 was "Bring it." "Get your red on" was their slogan for 2001.

While I don't mind "The beard is back" as it gives something for the fans ot draw on and have fun with despite being rather lame, my personal favorite was from 2002 where our slogan was " Let 'em see red." One of the few that didn't make me cringe.

I Want Stanley was AMAZING! (I was 10) Too bad it didn't work...

I think 97's was "Hey, Hey, Hockeytown". I still have the CD.

03's? was Bring Back Stanley. It was one of the years, I can't quite remember which...

I thought this was gonna be 2009 playoff teams. Here's a list of the one's I could find.

BTW: "NONE" doesn't necessarily mean the team doesn't have a slogan, I just couldn't locate it.

Anaheim: NONE

Boston: "We Want It"

Calgary: NONE

Carolina: "Our Team. Our Time"

Chicago: NONE

Columbus: "March On"

Detroit: "The Beard is Back"

Montreal: NONE

New Jersey: "Rock Your Red"

New York Rangers: "I am a Ranger"

Philadelphia: "Hungry for More"

Pittsburgh: NONE

San Jose: either "23 Men - One Mission " or "This is Shark's Playoff Territory"

St. Louis: "The Battle Continues"

Vancouver: NONE

First off, the worst has to be Columbus. "March on"....are you kidding me? I guess "April On" doesn't have the same ring to it. Or better yet.

The Best: San Jose's first one if that's actually it, otherwise Carolina's speaks to me the most.

Best wings, Believe

Worst: The Beard is back.

I Want Stanley was 96

Oh yeah. I should've known, because I actually liked "I Want Stanley." I've always thought, the more I like a playoff slogan, the less likely we are to win the Cup, and man we had some dumb ones in '97 and '98, whatever they were. I remember liking "Get your red on," and we all remember what happened then.

This year's is cheesier and dumber than ever. I have a good feeling about this.

I assume that was supposed to be the red light behind the other goalie.

Or perhaps it was a sign that they knew the lockout was impending and they were suggesting other financial options for the year without income.

Let'em See Red was the best, IMO.

As far as the songs go "i want stanley" and "get up" were the best. This thread also reminds me of the amazing spring of 95 when EVERYONE had red wing flags on their cars, merchandise and the stands were on every street corner.
