Lemieux cheapshots a player with his walker, drawing the ire of D-Mac, who hobbles over. They draw their canes, salute, and cross them, then proceed to repeatedly whack eachother over the heads while hanging onto the bench with their other hands for balance. D-Mac then hits Lemieux's hip, which gives out, Lemieux feebly falls to the ground, crumpling as D-Mac continues to land barely noticeable Yoda-esque cane strikes. Lemieux's age begins catching up to him, crying "what a world, what a world..!" as he melts into a puddle of goo.

Locks: Lidstrom, Osgood
Probable: Shanahan, Zetterberg,Datsyuk (barring something unforseen happening to Z or Pav)
Possible: Fedorov -The messy break up is the only thing that puts him in this category,
Chelios-he played 7 seasons in Montreal and won a cup, 9 in Chicago and won 2 Norris Trophies, 9 in Detroit and won 2 Cups and will probably retire as a Wing....a very unique career, not many hall of famers split their career almost equally among 3 teams
Longshots/too early to tell- Draper, had an A, won 4 cups and made an Olympic team, Franzen- if he can keep up his production for the majority of his 11 year deal

What amazes you about it? The fact he left or was it the fact he took the same money to leave and kicked
Detroit and it's fan in the Metaphorical NUTS!!!
I know he did do awesome things when he was here...if he wanted to leave he should of just said so.....
Should we retire his number here? I'm on the fence with this one.
Gordie played with Hartford to play with his kids who could fault him for that..... Feds left to leave.
Why should we?

Lidstrom is the only lock. Osgood is in the probable category. If Z and Datsyuk do indeed stay in Detroit for their entire careers then probably. Shanahan, Federov, Chelios and Draper will not have their numbers retired.

With that said, should we retire #91? Absolutely not.
The only Wing that Should be considered in the future is Lidstrom.
I said, You'll be sorry.
He said, Oh, yeah? Why?
I said, Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well.

Datsyuk: I have so many of them that I haven't won. I think I would most like to win a trophy to the best goaltending duo.

Because from what I've been reading about the issue in general. Some say that Feds got cocky and left the team.. others say Feds was offered a contract that Detroit pulled on him when he went to sign it.
If it was, in fact, the latter.. then it amazes me.

Ozzie: He's won 3 cups with the wings, 2 cups as a playoff starter (and in '97 he played the majority of the regular season games) with another cup very possibly on the way. He's had 305 of his 389 (78.4% )wins in a red wings uniform, and 38 of his 49 (77.5%) shutouts in a Wings uniform
Sawchuk: won 3 cups as a Wing, all as a starter, he had 361 of his 447 (80.7%) win in a cup uniform and 85 of his 103 (82.5%) shutouts in Detroit.
Osgood will have just as many cups as a playoff starter and more total in a Wings uniform if the Wings win it this year. His win and shutout percentages as a wing are all very very close to Sawchuk's and he will almost certainly pass them if he plays a year or two more. He will be in the Hall, played most of his career in Detroit and is/was a fan favorite, it's a no brainer. Also, he did not go to Colorado and win a Cup, which would have been the equivalent of Sawchuk winning one in Toronto.
