WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

That was a heartbreaking loss. I hate losing to the Ducks, I cannot stand that team of Goons. I really hope that the Wings win both games in Anaheim. Can we please now bring up Leino from GR. I loved his energy and drive when he was up with the Wings.

Props to Osgood on a good game, too bad that the reason Det tied it was mostly our own eff ups and not skill on Det's part.

Yes, clearly the wings who out shot the ducks, out chanced the ducks, out hit the ducks, and dominated the face off circle got lucky and did nothing with skill.

Well, that sucked.

The Ducks controlled play for 50 minutes, then the Wings for the next 50. But I had a growing sense of dread as each second passed and the Wings didn't score; they had the puck the entire time, but it was inevitable the Ducks would get one if the Wings didn't close the deal. Marchant's goal wasn't very good either.

Ughghghghgh, I am tired.

The OT goal looked like a lucky deflection from a Mighty Ducks stick.

Ducks got the lucky bounces, lucky non calls and, ultimately, the "W".

Detroit was rolling through the 09 playoffs, I didn't expect them to go 16-0 to the cup... though if any team could do it, it's the Detroit Red Wings! :D

It's strange how historically poor the Wings are in overtime at home. It's just a sinking feeling the entire time because we've been hurt so many times before. Oh well. This makes the two games in Anaheim that much more important. I'm glad I won't be home to attend them with my family. That s*** would be too intense.

In order to win this series, our stars are going to need to be better. Simple as that. They are falling back into old trends and stereotypes.

I agree every part but not bold part. Every team has to be prepared to consider every game as a must win game. I think the Wings looked very lost in the 1st and 2nd period. It was really poor performance but we turned around in the 3rd period.

Besides, while I hate the Ducks most, their home record isn't any good as a regular season but no one knows what can happen in the playoff. However, we know the Wings are good road team so I have a faith on the Red Wings

Na, Ducks know the importance of NOT going down 0-2 in the Playoffs against a mighty Red Wings team... especially since they're not too impressive at the pond and only have 1.5 of a good line.

I expect Detroit to have a few blowouts against the Ducks at the pond... and it's going to be a blood-bath :D They are yet to see the wrath of Datsyuk and Hossa! ;)

And the common way is that we look to dominate all over-time. Like game 5 against the Pens, the same thing just happened today. Just the name of goalie changed from MAF to Hiller.

Besides, as the time was passing, I was thinking like you. We had a PP chance but we could not convert that chance. Since that time, even though the Wings were destroying the Ducks all over the ice, I never felt comfortable. The stupid thing is that, overtimes sometimes make better teams lose.

I just got back home from the game. I do have the say, the Wings played with no passion and the PP looked terrible.

Osgood played a good game, except be lost of the puck during the 2nd or 3rd goal; he should of had it. And I go agree with Matt, the 4th goal he should of had.

Hoping the boys play with a little more "passion" in game 3.

I watched the game and I think Ozzie was solid. However, the last goal was soft. Well no good pressure from the defensive zone but he had to get that one.

Has there ever been a time with Ozzie on the ice and there was a goal against, that you didn't think "he had to get that one"? I cannot recall any time - no matter what was happening on the ice and how much our guys were screwing up, we could always count on you to come tell us once again that Ozzie should have had that one.

I cannot put into words how sick I am of hearing that from you. So instead of screaming and swearing, I'll just say, "Have a nice day".

When Ralfi comes back (and his fresh legs) then Ducks are in even bigger trouble. Our PP will excel and we can spread out the minutes better.

Draper is going to be great too, I think Kops has been good.. but give him a little rest so our Selke winner can own the Ducks. We have depth to do that :D

Ah, adversity... I've been expecting your call. Had to happen at some point.

SO well put. It's what they do with it and how they react that is your/their basic bottom line, huh.

I said Ozzie had a solid game, didn't I mention on the quote? What I am saying is that I am not seriously blaming the last goal but that was STOPPABLE. I never bashed Ozzie this game. He was really good. I knew when our defenses screwed up, Ozzie was there to stop the Ducks chances this game, maybe throughout the playoff.

I'm not sure why some Wings fans are overly upset over this loss... though it sucks whenever we lose, it's just not likely we'll skate 16-0 to Lord Stanely....

BUT what is important is look at the way we lost today. 10 minutes of effort in regular time, and determination to force OT, to a grueling 3 periods (and a total of 100+) minutes played, yet we still were determined not to give up our outstanding playoff record.

Now look at the playoffs and the minutes played by Ducks top players.... no WAY in HELL are they going to skate with the Wings rolling 4 lines down the stretch!

Though the loss isn't fun, it still shows the heart of this team. We are CHAMPIONS like the Ducks have ever seen before. They are in for BIG surprise!

I'm calling Wings in 6, but I'm also thinking Wings in 5. Either way, Wings advance, Ducks go golfing. You heard it first here.

What a game. Except for the 2nd period the Wings played very well. Osgood played really well. The Ducks also played really well and Hiller had a heck of a game.

The game was very entertaining, the reffing was alright, and it was a nail-biter. Way to go Wings, too bad we lost. 6 games, 5 wins, 1 loss, I'm happy!

Good job Ducks, we'll see you in Anaheim.

In all honesty, Ozzie played his game. the rest of the team were in a daze for most of the game. Watching the puck instead of chasing after it. and for God's sake where is homer in front of the net?? No Wings in front of Hiller at all.

Just frustrated and venting........................

Go WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A series was expected and a series it is.

People want to say that's a crushing loss or a momentum swing... fine, not me though. I thought we were the better team today, out shot, out hit and out worked the Ducks. Ducks split in Detroit ok, i see it as we split with Rafalski out. My only beef with our Wings today is that we need to make better on our scoring chances. We have so much talent and so many capable guys, sometimes i feel gyped when this offense can't finish on so many shots. Anyone playing in the NHL can score, not that Marchant scoring is so far fetched because the guy does have the resume (especially from that Edmonton-Dallas classic). Ozzie was awesome, i can't ask more from the guy, the team needs to score for him especially on 70+ shots. I think this game woke up our offense, not in the sense of throwing pucks on net but i think we will see that scoring touch the Wings are capable of for the rest of the series. And oh ya, awesome game! This is playoff hockey!

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, I don't think it's hard to understand why people would be upset following this game. No matter the circumstances, it's tough to lose a triple-overtime playoff game. I still have complete faith in the team, but this naturally puts people on edge a bit. It feels very similar to '07 and that didn't end very well. Folks are just a little anxious.

And say all you want about how much more talented the Wings are, they certainly haven't shown it thus far. They'll need to be much better from here on out if they want to win this series.

Before the series starts, I said on my national hockey site that the Wings will take this series in game 6.

Besides, I hope you are right because Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, and other first line combo of the Ducks really looked lost in those three over time; we just got bombed suddenly by Merchant who must be the 2nd or 3rd liner. But do not forget they are young players. As the time goes more, it hurts us because we are older team than the Ducks.

I am not being moron of bashing the age but the fact is that if you are younger, you need a shorter period of time to recover your full health and energy. The good thing is that the Wings really looked to play since the third period and we have to find another way to beat Hiller
