YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 5, 2009 I believe the Penguins scored just after this (although Varlamov was able to get over). After Kunitz clocks him, Varlamov is noticeably shaken and drops his stick. The goal was scored, and can't be reviewed, but its not like it was a slash on the pads. It was a crosscheck to the throat. Thats going to disorient a guy even if for a few seconds, which is more than enough time to lose track of the puck near the crease. Thank god it wasn't a tying/winning goal, because it was CLEAR goaltender interference, and the worst kind at that. No penalty, no game misconduct (not that there was much of a game left), and no suspension. I'm shocked. With the Penguins down 2-0 in a series? Heh. Right. M0DAN01999 6 Report post Posted May 5, 2009 it was a ***** of a move by Kunitz (he sure learned from the best though) but there were too many ways the NHL could have said it "accidental" for them to actually do something
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Hey lookie, a chinsy little fine for a millionaire's cross check to the head on Varlamov. I guess it's dirty enough to be a fine but not a suspension. That's fair right? http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009/news?id=4143194 esteef
