We'll see Seattle before another team in Texas...I hope. Never know with that little Napoleon at the wheel though.I think a Houston team would probably oversaturate the Texas market. Dallas is pretty well supported I think but not tremendously so, and you'd be cutting into that base. Best bet is to move it to a smaller but more dedicated market in Canada or the American north.

Who knows, he might even want to invest in the team.
However, I think right now that their main focus is trying to get an NBA team back there.

Realistic situations that could happen tomorrow:
Hamilton: Copps coliseum is about the size of the Joe, but also just as aged.
Quebec: biggest company in the province wants a team and has money down to build a new arena and refurb Pepsi Colisee for a couple years while the new place is being built
Situations that need a new arena, OR a strong ownership group:
Kansas City
Houston
Situations that need both as stated above:
Seattle
Hartford.

The perpetually on-again, off-again saga regarding the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team is on again.
Prospective Coyotes buyer Greg Jamisonhas brought investment money and partners back into the fold and could soon close on the purchase of the team from the National Hockey League. The sale would keep the team in Glendale at Jobing.com Arena.
...
"back into the fold"? Interesting.

I don't get why any sane businessman would buy this team. It has NEVER made money. Maybe he thinks that he will give it a few years then move it to someplace where it will make money. But that's not a good plan to get a return on all that money. From Phoenix Business Journal:

"back into the fold"? Interesting.
Most businesses want 2-3 year paybacks. Clearly this investment isn't going to have that. What part am I missing?

If the citizens of Phoenix want to spend 15 million of their hard-earned tax dollars to keep them there and someone is stupid enough to invest in the Yotes, let them stay. It's that much less of my money that is being spent to keep them there. Sell the damned team already and wash your hands of this failed experiment. Unless things change drastically, that team is folding in the near future.

The National Hockey League will operate Glendale's hockey arena for another month.
...
Very optimistic. I would have gone with "...at least another month".

Phoenix Coyotes suitor Greg Jamison says he's ready to move forward with his bid for the team, but now Glendale says it wants to rework its 20-year, $324 million deal with him.

I think in a lot of cases the arena is part of the deal. So the taxpayers pay for a huge chunk of building an arena, which the NHL team owner owns, then takes a "loss" on his hockey team while making money on other events held there, concessions, parking, etc.I don't get why any sane businessman would buy this team. It has NEVER made money. Maybe he thinks that he will give it a few years then move it to someplace where it will make money. But that's not a good plan to get a return on all that money.

The Yotes will be in Phoenix - erm - Glendale for a few more financial nightmarish seasons...Nobody with a functioning brain seems too concerned that an NHL franchise will never be profitable in the desert.
Oh well...At least it's not my tax $$$ being pissed away.
Yep. As long as The Count is the commish, this will go on forever. Not sure what his fixation with Glendale is. Maybe his mom is from there? lol
So glad that state tax dollars aren't funding this misadventure.

Some financial players in past bids to buy the Phoenix Coyotes could be part of Greg Jamison’s efforts to purchase the hockey team and keep them in Glendale.
Jamison has been quiet about the particulars of his year-long effort to buy the Coyotes from the National Hockey League. That includes naming his partners and identifying where the money is coming from for the deal.
But the Phoenix Business Journal has learned from multiple sources that partners from Ice Edge Holdings LLC could be part of the Jamison investment group.

Greg Jamison is still trying to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes.
Jamison told Sportsnet’s John Shannon that despite public rumours to the contrary, the former San Jose Sharks executive is attempting to buy the club from the NHL.
He's going to have to "double shift" the can collections and celebrity car washes.
