I'm so sick of this song and dance, just with a different person every few months, sell the team or relocate it. I don't need to be constantly reminded of how bad a gm bettman is, I already know

I am also sick of the current BOG, let guys like Dolan, Pegula, Ilitch, Aquilani, Lemieux, Chipman, Sneider and the Tannenbaum be the new team. They wouldn't allow stuff like that going on forever, its just unfair for the people in Phoenix they have hope and in the end its just a PR puppet so the NHL can still gain a little bit from the market.

I highly doubt Seattle can afford to support 4 major teams, QC and Markham want the team as an NHL only franchise so their plans sound a lot more solid to me.

This in from Forbes on why Yotes moving to Seattle makes more sense than QC...

Forgive my ignorance - what was the reason/s the SuperSonics leaving Seattle?

Can that city, or will the city of Seattle support the team enough that they won't end up like the Yotes?

I dunno - it seems as though the BOG/Bettman are more than happy to share an arena with an NBA franchise (very questionable in my opinion) while instead they'd be the #1 attraction within 100 miles if the Yotes were to move to Quebec City.

EDIT - a little off topic, but does anyone know if the "Nordique Nation" is making it's rounds this shortened season?

That alone speaks volumes of the support that the NHL would get if it were to return to QC - unfortunately I don't think anyone is listening.

Nordiques Nation will be in Ottawa later this month, hopefully they are going to visit the JLA too.

10k people per game or so are paying to watch them suck in the WHL. If 67,000 people are willing to spend NFL prices, a city already interested in hockey would probably fill an arena of 17000-19000 well enough.

What gets me scrarching my head is that outside of the WHL teams - I really don't see Seattle as a hockey market, but then again I don't live there, nor have I ever been there...I haven't been to Quebec City either, but since the Nords left - we've heard about them wanting their team back.

Post the link please :)

The link is in it...its linked on "Forbes" lol.

Update: *HERE IS THE LINK!*

"Mr. Jamison and I have talked," Glendale Mayor Weiers told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Thursday. "I had told him that I would honor the deal that the previous council had made. That's true today, but not a second past it."

"We want a professional hockey team here, but not when it's literally tied to the backs of our taxpayers at the same time that we're letting our law enforcement jobs go by the wayside and our fire," he said. "Public safety has got to be our very first priority, and as much as I want the Coyotes here, it can't be done on the backs of the taxpayers by sacrificing, trading public safety for hockey."

"If he can't pull it together I know that the council will not be willing to extend that, but I can also tell you we will entertain any offer anybody has that isn't going to set our city backwards, that will help us move forward, that will keep the Coyotes here and keep a professional hockey team," he said, admitting it may take a miracle to keep the team around. "I don't know anybody that doesn't want them here other than the Canadians. They'd rather have them up north of the border. "

From Arizona Republic:

Veteran sports executive Greg Jamison failed to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday, but he and other suitors will continue efforts to buy the National Hockey League team in coming weeks, according to multiple sources.

“We will not be able to complete our purchase of the Phoenix Coyotes today in time to meet our deadline with the city of Glendale,” Jamison said in a prepared statement released Thursday night.

“However, our journey to purchase the Coyotes will continue. We realize this will require additional conversations with the city of Glendale and the NHL. We still believe we can reach an agreement that satisfies everyone. We hope negotiations with the city proceed as smoothly as possible, as everyone involved wants the Coyotes to remain in Arizona.”

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told The Arizona Republic that regardless of Thursday’s deadline with the city, “The Coyotes will still be playing here tomorrow and our objectives will remain the same.”

Greg Jamison = Monopoly rich.

Oui.

Maybe we  fans are looking at this the wrong way?

Why should a team re-locate to Quebec City when the fans from there are willing to travel, spend alot of their hard earned $$$, and fill up the arenas of existing franchises?

Hell - with that kind of logic I might be capable of ruining running this league!

Well NN are probably around 1.000 people QC would be 20.000 in the new arena do the math and imagine how hockeycrazy Canada especially Toronto and Montreal, QC. Giving them back the Nordiques would be a goldmine for the NHL simple as that just look at Winnipeg.

I wonder if Jamison is getting paid to play the leagues puppet, the deal is now done and the major said there will not be another deal like this, good for him I hate it when taxpayers have to pay for a sports franchise or their arenas. But I really hope if they move the Coyotes at least get an AHL team for all the remaining fans, so they have something hockeyrelated to be happy about.

You, me, and hockey fans with both a pulse, and a functioning brain are all on the same page...Anyone else remember the Nords/Habs rivalry?..Yeah - the league doesn't want that...They'd rather have a team in the middle of nowhere with no fan base so the league can rake in that huge cash cow aka "TV revenue"

Oh yeah that 6 million/year mega super TV contract how could I forgot that *rofl* If they Coyotes are going to be relocated what other option is there right now? Seattle like I said is an afterthought they want the NBA 1 and NHL 2 that worked out well for Atlanta didn't it?

Honestly I think the BOG (if they have a brain) will push hard for QC because of all the gambles they'll want some staple incomes for the coming years and QC would provide that. The only US city I can see in the mix would be Hartford (long way to go still) but they'd want the NHL first instead of an afterthought.

We can only hope that there are smart business people on the Quebec front (communications giant Quebecor in particular) where they're operating behind the scenes (just like Winnipeg had done), and are quietly working out a deal with the BOG/Bettman.

The Colisée Pepsi has just over 15,000 capacity, and would make a fine home until the new arena is completed.

Exactly they should play it smart and wait till they are officially allowed to announce the deal, just like Winnipeg did. I think you can't take a gamble and then try another gamble at least we can only hope the BOG is aware of that. I have nothing against Seattle but the fact, that they want the NHL as 2 rings the Atlanta bells in my brain. Playing in a 15.000 men arena and then moving into an even bigger 20.000 sounds like a good plan to me and as we know good planning is not something the NHL has been known since a while.

Uncle Gary usually waits to make the biggest announcements during the All-Star break.

He can use this time to organize a telethon for Jamison.

I prefer a bake sale...Uncle Gary can go out, and wack the knee caps of those selling girl scout cookies so many would resort into buying "Cookies for Coyotes".
