VladyIBELIEVE16 257 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 I don't know if this will make anyone feel any better but I got an email from a close friend who happens to be a season ticket holder at the ponda asking me if I made it to my car safely without incident last night. Sadly I couldn't say I had. I explained what had happened to me, then as well all these other incidences that have popped up here on LGW... she's forwarded my descriptions on to her contact at the Ponda requesting that something be done to protect people and their safety when parties are leaving the ponda property etc. Hopefully it'll make a difference.... T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) I don't care if it wasn't that bad. I don't care if they laugh about it some day. It's irrelevant and doesn't change the fact that he shouldn't have been beat up. Like I said, if you wanna have less sympathy for him, ok. If you wanna tell him he could have made a different choice, ok. But to say that he deserved this or that because of his actions what happened to him is somehow "okay" - I don't think so. NOBODY is saying its somehow OK. People, including myself, are saying (and I paraphrase) "WTF did you think was going to happen when you decided to act like that". Please tell me you understand the difference. Edit: While I mean the OP no disrespect, unfortunately these assholes exist. NEWSFLASH: There are people out there that like to inflict violence on random people for no real reason except that it is fun for them. They like to come out during large events where there will be large crowds as its easy to pick targets and its easy to get away by blending in with the crowd. I strongly doubt these thugs were actually at the game, inside the arena. If they pick oppossing team jersey's they may feal they are less likely to encounter intervention. Hit and run, mob mentality, call it what you want but it unfortunately exists. I rmember the Rodney King riots where Regianld Denny got dragged out of his semi truck and kicked and beaten with in inches of his life. many punk asses saw this and imitated it in Dallas after the Cowboys won the super bowl, and soon after at another sporting event. I remember being in a restaraunt it MSU and hearing a dishwasher say "man, LA, and Dalls got there's when do we get to have ours!?. Be aware. These assholes exist. Just check out youtube and see how many peole get killed by random violence while sitting at a park bench. BE aware. Edited May 6, 2009 by T.Low

MSUDoubleJ19 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Has anyone said otherwise? Um, yes. I only went back one page though, because I don't feel like posting all of them. Plenty of people trying to justify people beating him up based on his actions. Don't ignite it unless you are willing to deal with the consequences is all I said. As soon as you've stopped the car, rolled the window down, and said anything, you've ignited it. Don't talk smack, don't give facewashes unless you're willing to follow-through. but thats life, learn to know it when you see it. keeping your mouth shut will keep you out of trouble. pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 1.) bloody nose given to you by FIVE 300 lb. guys, and a... 2.) broken thumb 3.) hospital visit 4.) all windows broken 5.) you NEVER LOOKED FOR A SECURITY GUARD, CALLED THE COPS, or HEADED BACK INTO THE HONDA CENTER TO ALERT THE AUTHORITIES?????? I'm not sure all of this adds up. If all 5 things did happen exactly how you said they did, then that is the most disturbing post-game event I'd ever heard of. It definitely seems that it didn't happen exactly the way you say. Common sense should have prevailed during step #5.

It doesn't matter if it's smart or if he thought it was going to happen or not. I totally agree with you that he should be able to speak freely. And it pisses me off that he gets his ass beat for doing so. However, he is proof that what i say is true. I guess the difference is that he and you have not seen it before to know that it is an ugly truth, and many of us here have. Ask his bloody nose if it matters or not. There are evil, bad, mean nasty, illogical, unreasoning people out there that do not embrace the same values as you and I. I say that you should know them when you come across them, and you will be all the safer for it.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 If a group of thugs yells random sports rivalry s*** at other teams fans as they walk by, there is no harm done. My kids and my wife will be fine, so i would not ask you to intervene. It is a flammable situation like gasoline. Its harmless as you simply walk by it, but it could be lethal if you ignite it. Don't ignite it unless you are willing to deal with the consequences is all I said. If you intervene and violence erupts, then maybe my wife gets sucker punched in the mouth and mamed for life. You may kick some ass, but you cannot control the collateral damage. As soon as you've stopped the car, rolled the window down, and said anything, you've ignited it. Edit: How could I sleep at night if anyone in my family ended up in a wheel chair for life because I had to be the big man and open my big mouth? Walking by someone yelling random s*** at strangers is not cowardly. This post is 100% on... The "goons" weren't hurting the lady's / Children / Goats / Sheep / Wildabeasts... They were verbally yelling at them... VERBALLY not PHYSICALLY.... walk on by
hail2ducks 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Hey guys. So the night ended twice as bad for me as everyone else. Some of you might have noticed the stiuation out in the parking lot after the game. Well, that was me. Basically, after the game, me and my buddy headed toward our car and proceeded to drive out. As we were driving out, 5 HUGE 300 POUND Ducks fans were giving s*** to EVERY Wings fan that walked by, even children. I had to intervene. So, I rolled down by window and simply reminded them who won the cup last year and who got eliminated first round. Well, obviously, I hit a button. The next thing I knew, all 5 of them rushed my car. A few of them proceeded to break all my windows and the window I had just rolled down on ther passenger side was still open. So, two of em decided it would be manly to start throwing punches at my friend on the passenger side, who said NOTHING, while he was still in the car. Keep in mind this is while the other 3 are trying to break my windows. I jump out of the car and as soon as I do, two of them rush me and the next thing I know (well, as soon as the parking lot stopped spinning) my nose was gushing blood and my thumb was broken. All of this was happening as fellow Duck fans laughed their asses off in the background. They immediately escaped without anyone catching any plates or anything. And me, I ended up with a blood soaked nose and broken thumb. Yea, What a night.... wow, that really does suck man, if i where you i would go to the honda center and tell them to see if there is video of the incident so that you can press charges on those low lifes scum that did this, honestly i cant believe this happened, all season long ive never seen this type of problem, well once i did but it was just 2 people being drunk and throwing blows, but not vandalising your car and then being injured... jolly 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 @ pavyaz19 he says he did contact the authorities, but there was "little that can be done" since no one knows the who the ducks fans were. Me and my buddies were walking out of the game last night when a Ducks fan whipped my buddy in the ass with a rally towel. He turned around and ***** slapped him about hard enough to give him wiplash and we were able to get a formal apology out of him.

I am sorry, but I've seen the way Red Wings Fans roll INTO the Honda Center, Shark Tank, Staples Center, Jobbing.Com arena, United Center, Pepsi Center, General Motors Place, and the Joe. And I've also seen the way they act DURING the games (myself included). Red Wings fans are ANNOYING AS ALL HELL to everyone else in the league EXCEPT other Red Wings fans. By the time Red Wings fans think they're leaving "properly", it's too late. They've already pissed off everyone else and gotten them to the point where they're ready to jump on them if they make the slightest remark. Too me, this is all SOUR GRAPES. We lost. We compounded the loss by not ignoring the Ducks' stupid fans and just shutting up and eating our crow after the game. Now DEAL with the consequences. ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I held back my sympathy for the Red Wings fan because an attack of that nature would NEVER happen from "Hey, who won last year?" as the only thing being said. That's ridiculous. The OP probably had too much to drink, probably shouldn't have been driving in the first place, and DEFINITELY should have kept his mouth shut. Bloody nose and broken thumb = probably lucky that's all that happened. Actually dude, that IS what I said. Well more like, "Hey, uh, remind me, who won the cup last year? Seriously I forgot, who won it again last year?" Thats exactly what I said. Believe it or not, I could care less. Anyway, I doubt I can bring any legal action against the Ponda because after all was said and done, there were no witnesses who stepped up and told the police what they saw. It took forever for the cops to come and when they did, most of the people who saw had left and the rest just said they didn't see anything. You have to keep in mind, most people who witnessed this were either standing and gawking or cheering.

EuroMan 3 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 More info please... Where were cops? Did you end up filing a report? Aren't there security cameras everywhere and if the fans were that huge - it'd be easy to find them on cameras when they were taped inside? This story is not making much sense without that info. BTW, the comment about it being his fault is way out of line. Being a fan at the AWAY game is not pretty and we have just as much right to do s*** that the other team fans do. We're all giving you props for defending your turf and not backing down to these bozos. However, I think most of us agree that you should have been ready to get what you got by mouthing off back to the idiots who were taunting you. "Don't piss into the wind" is what comes to mind here. Well, if you bothered to really read my post, you would have seen that I never said they managed to break my windows. They charged the car, began attacking my friend through his open window and I jump out before more could be done. Seconds after, I'm just in a daze. I mean, I pretty much just went into la-la-la land and it took me a while to come out of it. I had to walk over to a parking attendant to contact security, when cops came it was about 15-20 after the event occurred.
RedArmy 4 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Ducks fans seem to take cue from Pronger... I was at a play off series between isles and leafs a few years ago at isles home games... They were much more intense with lots of fighting on the ice than current ducks wings series... fans in the lot attacked leaf fans by burning their leafs and canadian flag and spilled beer on someone, but no beatings though...
